TROPICO 3: THE RELEASE DATE, STEAM
When is it? Many STEAM users have attempted to contact STEAM and Kalypso for days now with zero support. Frankly the entire release system has been poorly handled and we getting tired of it. Their is a significant amount of users who have already requested a refund or vowed to discontinue supporting STEAM and/or Kalypso. I feel that this mess should be cleared up ASAP, and that we should be given a concrete release date. Many users on the STEAM forum also feel that an apology would not be untoward as we have paid money for a game that was promised to be NOW RELEASED! Only to find that we now are required to wait for an undisclosed period of time. I am sure that Kalypso will eventually remedy this but I think the sooner it is cleared up the better and that it will result in a drop in the ill-will felt between consumer and developer/retailer. Also if you suggest we consult STEAM there has already been many attempts and there are many still underway, it seems to some users that they do not care at all about addressing or even admitting that there is a problem even though some users believe there has been flagrant misconduct on their part.

To sum up: Please give us an official announcement regarding the STEAM release date.

Steam releases the game on the same date or shortly after retail launch in your country. Tropico 3 (PC) is out now in Germany and North America, the game launches in the rest of Europe and Australia on 6th November.

Expect digital distribution platforms to release the game at the same time in your country. Please contact the online distributors for their individual release dates.

Thank you for the official statement Smile. It feels good to now have a solid grasp on what is going on.

RE: TROPICO 3: THE RELEASE DATE, STEAM
the only thing i could guess it that steam wants to release the game in the latest version, and that version (patch 1.09) will be released in the next days.

complaints are totally justified, but you have to acknowledge that kalypso is still a small, aspiring company. its their first game with such a global attention, and i dont know if it is even the first game they release worldwide. its their first console port. theres discs to be pressed, manuals to be translated, boxes to be printed. stuff has to be shipped. they have to create distribution channels. they have to deal with local and online retailers. there are contracts to be fulfilled, fees to be paid. some of this work has to be outsourced. some retailers want online versions to come out later than boxed versions. they have to obey many different laws in many different coutries, deal with hundreds of companies. and everyone wants a slice of the pie.

all that takes a lot of careful decisions

And their last... No one in their right mind is going to buy from Kalypso again under this kind of treatment. You only get so much good faith from your customers Kalypso...

Actually i would, as the game is high quality, not the typical crash (have to wait for bug fix to actually play it) deals.
Just because the distributors for the company are having issues (for whatever reasons), doesn't mean a game is automatically bad....

As posted in other threads:

I'm more curious the reason. I doubt it's because of Kalypso not having the game because they do. My guess is that it's set and ready for release but they're waiting on red tape with different countries to go through to they're legally allowed to release it. They're technically 'importing' a product into a country and I'm not sure the process but I'm sure it takes time. Cant blame the publisher if they're stonewalled by a government/customs center.
