Problem with the people
Ok I was searching a lot about this on the forum,on google, other sites and nothing...So my problem is when I start a game (tutorial, sandbox, campaign). There are no people O.o. Ok when I click my avatar to go somewhere he goes there but I can't see him. When I try to customize an avatar,I just don't see him as well...So do you know from what should be the problem? Why don't I see the people and my dictator?I installed the latest drivers but nothing changed...Thank you in advance.

Maybe you can check this thread: http://forum.kalypsomedia.com/showthread.php?tid=2545

see if it works for you. also try to update drivers for the video card, if not updated. maybe also you can check ATI control panel. I don't have ATI, so I can't be more specific , but it should have controls for each application and therefore you can change settings for tropico 3, see if any would fix the problem. Make sure always you to return the settings to default if it didn't work.

I just googled, Ati Radeon HD 3200, since I don't use ATI, this video card is integrated , correct? and it seems no good for high graphics and gaming. but keep trying with settings or any other solution, maybe it will work and wait for response from Kalypso if they ever going to respond.

but I think just try different pc if you have another one. or if you have desktop, you can simply upgrade the video card.

Radeon 3200, as card with shader 3.0 support, should be sufficient for Tropico 3 with low details and smaller resolution. Or better yer, with smaller "scene resolution" instead (keeps GUI sharp at native resolution, while getting same performance gain of lower resolution).

And really, it's not a shooter. You don't need more then 15fps to make it playable.

Are you sure sufficient and supported by Tropico 3? because remember it is not just about the fps and how much details the game has,

It depends also on what techniques the developers used. if some functions used are not supported by the card, it does not work, or it gets some problems in graphics.

Well, I have it playable with 3470 on my laptop. Low detail, shadows off, high textures (dedicated VRAM helps here), high "scene resolution", at 1280x800. Gets below 15fps at late game, but not much.

3200 isn't much worse. With lower scene resolution and textures it should surely be playable.

P.S.
Although I had to update drivers in order to see water.

I set everything to low and wherever there was an option off I pressed it...I lowered my resolution to 1024x768 but still nothing. =[

well, 3470 is much better than 3200,

http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobilit...594.0.html

I'm not blaming the chip (; , but the TC might not have much option changing settings, the problem might be in Tropico 3 using some functionality that is not supported by 3200.

If anyone else has 3200 , can confirm the issue. though other people with powerful video cards have similar problems, some using Vista.

Another possibility, the ATI driver for vista might be buggy. in that case an update should fix it, unless they haven't issue a fix.

RE: Problem with the people
Sure it's better, but not too much better. For example, in FEAR difference between those two cards on high details is 12 vs 8fps. That's enough to catch up, if you reduce "scene resolution" in T3.

Both graphics are based on very similar technologies. Biggest difference is in dedicated ram that 3470 has and higher clocks (still, both suck for modern games).

Although, problem here seems more driver related (I guess). I would expect lower performance, but not missing people and stuff with 3200.

You're right , they are close in terms of the technology.

Onboard video cards are terrible for gaming generally, but specifically those with shared memory and GPU built-in in the chip . that's why I love desktop, once i upgraded to Geforce from GMA 300 (or something like that), and I'm comfortable with any game. no worry , no issue. but now we have the crashes and other bugs, which makes consoles look much better.
