Here's the preliminary changelog with the most prominent fixes for the upcoming update 1.08:
- Support for legacy ATI cards (fixes graphics issues on X19x0 models)
- Elections and rebel activities persist if you keep playing after your regular
- Population limit raised to 1200
- Road element limit raised to 800
As with all previous patches, this update will be delivered automatically through the in-game updater requiring a working internet connection and a legit serial number.
The patch is undergoing extensive internal testing now and will be ready to go live by the end of the week.

Does it do anything to combat the crashes/lockups?

Does this fix the water issue? It seems to happen on nvidia and ati.

Updating drivers worked for me on that.

That's promising changes, especially the support and election after keeping playing beyond 2012 [intended]
But may I suggest, that Kalypso place the configuration for maximum population and maximum roads allowed in separate file, so we can mod easily to meet our needs, even if certain number above 1200 would cause problems.
or is it already? if it is , hopefully Kalypso gives us information on how to change it.

This is not a single bug, almost any crash with the game logic results in this behavior. We have fixed some issues, but I can't guarantee all of them are fixed.

We are not aware of a reproducible water issue on NVIDIA and ATI with latest drivers. What we could reproduce here (using a 1900 sent by ATI themselves, thanks a lot guys!), we fixed.

If you have reproducible crashes/lockups, e.g. a savegame that results in a crash or lockup after a while, we'll be glad to take a look at it - please send to support@haemimontgames.com.

Kinda disappointed
- Elections and rebel activities persist if you keep playing after your regular
- Population limit raised to 1200
By using challenge editor and directly editing the script file, I solved this two problems indirectly.
Then the new patch just raises road limit for me...

I consider 1200 people pretty good. You will realize that it will be hard to offer jobs, food, housing and entertainment for all of them with the limited space. Now the most limiting factor will be island size just like in T1. Great. Can't wait. Will recommend this game now.

I also am getting a weird issue with the water. Its like a bunch of jagged edges...I've been living with it for a while. Thinking its a driver issue, I'm hoping it may be solved on the next driver update...

The two things I cared about most, the population cap and Election/rebel activites are being fixed. I have not a care in the world now. (I am truly happy, no sarcasm meant)
But what does it mean by road element limit raised to 800?

Can you show a screenshot?
The latest ATI/AMD cards - 5750/5770/5850/5870 etc. - seem to have such a problem when antialiasing is active; it manifests itself as a jagged square-like partner near the edges of the water; we believe it's not on our side, we've contacted ATI and they are investigating the issue.

I'm telling you guys that the water issue is where there is no water. This happens on the demo and the retail game. I am using an Nvidia 9800GX2 with latest drivers. I've been waiting patiently for a while now about this issue and I would just like to know if this is getting fixed because it happens on both versions of the game so it can be reproduced.

I PM'd it to Chrono on Oct 30. The save game was called "Crash.sav" and it was zipped with a dozen log files.
If you want, I can email it to that address or PM a link to it to you. It is reproducible via loading the save and waiting less than a year.

No need, I'll get it from him. Thanks.

But what does it mean by road element limit raised to 800?
There is a limited amount of road that you can lay in the game
I ran out a couple of time
The amount will be raised with the new patch 1.08

Cool.
Wish we could get tourists to take a cab back to their hotel in there too.

assen Wrote:The limit is on "road elements", which includes straight roads, and crossroads. The straight road elements (between crossroads) can be pretty long, so a long stretch of road between cities will exhaust the limit less than if it was interrupted by crossroads.
From thread: There is a road limitation???

Are patches only available through in-game updater? If so, how big is it? I have dial-up internet and usually download stuff like patches from work and bring it home. I just can't download big files from home where the game is installed.
Thank you.

WOW, Seriously, thanks very much. That is great news to see the pop cap raised. And elections and rebels is icing on the cake too.
Thanks very much for this.

All I hope is that we get a tool that allows us to bulldoze trees.

These are very good starts. I'll be more satisfied. In the future the pop should be raised further and other issues to address will be rebel activity and the edtior, then we'd be perfect.

I've noticed a couple bugs too... Sometimes I'll pause the game and it won't unpause. I'll try to switch the speeds but nothing happens! It seems to just happen randomly and I have to save the game and then reload it again to get it to unpause. I just lost my train of thought and forgot the second bug...

What? Can't you just.... build over them and watch them vanish? Or if you really want to deforest... build a bunch of Logging camps.
And thanks for the answer to my Question, to both of you who answerd me.

This is OUTSTANDING news, particularly the population cap fix...And I agree w/ the other poster who mentioned that 1,200 is pretty good because you will get to a point where maintaining a supremely functional island will become counter-intuitive if your population gets too high!
Kudos Kalypso/HM!
pat!

These were the ones I was hoping for, and first on my list. Great!
I also like the idea's of manually placing the palace, and seeing it evolve with El Presidente's private stash, otherwise the stash has no real meaning in sandbox mode. Not sure in campaign mode yet.
To make it even more interesting..... I would also like to have the auto placement of houses, teamers, and the contruction building abandoned in the begining, and allow us to place them too. Most of the time I destroy them in favor of a better location in sandbox mode.
