The best Tropico Island! [Youtube]
Hey there all of you Tropico presidentes.
I challenge you all to some kind of best-tropico-island-to-live-in-challenge.
I am sure that my Tropico Island is the best one out there and I will therefore show you how it looks like as well.
By the way.. I have got some e-mails before about me using cheats or in some other way trying to manipulate the economic system but I do not use any cheat codes or such in Tropico 3. The money I have are purely earned from good decisions diferent kinds of factories and minerals.
Here you go:

Best Tropico Island Infrastructure:

Try to beat this. Discuss what you like about this island or what can be done to improve it! Link to your own videos of your islands and try to challenge!

Generalissimo salary way of play:
I'm going to give you guys a little tip. I did this in Tropico 1 as well and this is the first thing I do before I even press the "Play"-button ingame.
I always put the farmers and other non-educated working areas to get a wage of $3, then the high-school on $7-8 and College $9-11.
This has worked everytime (except for when I achieved my Iron-fist achievement, lol) and the reason is because as long as the different classes have different but yet fairly big incomes, they are satisfied because those who are educated can afford everything. Also all housing is free, but there are only tenements to live in except for the luxury mansions I built late in the game on their own street with their own hospital. (These are only for soldiers to afford with).
Communistic way of play:
To play in a fairly communistic way you should first of all get more people to live in your island than there are jobs open. This will make people willing to work for any salary possible. Then at this stage you could put all salaries, no mather what job to $5. Those who are college educated still are going to work at a job that requires that education because of the job quality.
- The only thing here is that the soldiers and generals will let you know that they don´t really like having the same salary as all the others, if you can come by this, then you are good to play as a communistic leader!
My Future Experiment:
As it has been a while since I last player Tropico and not been able to play it as much as I would like to, I have not been able to start on my next project.
As this is hard to obtain I will let you guys know so some of you can try it.
My plan is to build some kind of "Berlin-Wall" by making tons of Guarding Stations around the main city so that rebels are not able to get in there so easy.
This requires tons of people and you will have to cut down some working force to make everyone want to become a soldier. The hardest thing here I think would be to get all these people to your island and feed them all.

Well my way of play isn´t to have a high quality. Im trying to push all the limits in the game (Not with cheats or glitches). I put all the tenements rent down to $0 so that everyone has a house and only by that their housing quality raises.. but of course I don´t want to make them all live totally in a dream world just because the state has a lot of money, after all.. I am El Presidente.
By the way.. it will go on around in a circle.. low pay = higher housing quality / high pay = lower housing quality.. You get 0 from this.
By the way Fidel Astro, you are right about the socialistic ideology, but I meant just to have that as a tip for how to have at least about the same salaries

Nice job Rabban7. The tour was awesome! As with Pinstar's, & CityBuilders, and otheres suggestions, I will have too implement some of your strategies, and see if it pans out with me too. Overall, a great presentation. I'd like to see more from others out there.

Fidel Astro Wrote:That is BS.
People are not supposed to have equal wages in socialist countries. Just equal wages for equal work. The more you work the more you get, unlike under capitalism where those who own, and don't work earn most.
Can you manage a multi-million dollar company successfully? It's harder than it sounds. Those who own took plenty of risks to create that company that is now employing people.
But I digress, what program do you use to record your cities?
In Dixie Land where I was born,
Early on one frosty mornin',
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land!
