I just picked the game up the day before yesterday, and on all three maps I have messed with so far I have been completely unable to establish a fishing dock. It doesn't matter where I try to place it, I get the "Unable to Level Ground" message - even when on the flattest beach available.

I'm a veteran Tropico and Tropico 2 player (as well as RRT, RRT2, RRT3 - but it appears that this game is using a different engine than the PopTop games), but I've been flummoxed with this problem.

I am not playing on v1.04 yet - I am on dialup and so cancelled the patch. I'll download it at work, but I haven't seen any mention of this problem anywhere on the forum (granted, I did only go back 11 pages deep).

Does anyone have any ideas about this one?

Let us see some map pictures of your problem, that may help us. I have never heard of this problem on this forum either. Get the updates, and re-install if you have to, and try it again. Zoom in if you have not already tried that, sometimes precise placements helps, it did for me. As to dial-up, sorry I don't know any one that still uses it, as I would ask them for assistance toward your problem.

Pardon my stupidity... it is exactly because I am such a veteran Tropico player that I ran into this problem. In Tropico, the fishing dock has the finger pier leading from the land to the shack out over the water. In Tropico3 the shack is on the edge of the shore and the finger pier juts out into the water. I'm so embarrassed...

lol. yea, i had the same issue at one point, thinking like tropico 1. shack in ocean, pier towards the land. opps.
