Where's the Municipal airport?

Just wondering.  Par for the tech level, they allow for a Port and a Railway Terminal.  And as tech advances, you are even allowed to dabble with putting your own satellites into orbit.  But it seems that your little nation decided to forego air passenger travel entirely.

CaptainPatch,
Sadly they didn't think to put in a municipal airport. Neither do they seem inclined to give us a decent bug patch.

Unfortunately, such a glaring omission really undercuts the premise that this game is supposed to be something of a simulation of Real Life. Granted, it's not anything like an _accurate_ simulation, but still, the implication is that the game is at least founded on some Real World mechanisms (city management, complete with the complex interplay of politics, unlike other politics-less city builder games). Leave out something that in Real Life is pretty much omnipresent emphasizes "This is pure Make Believe" and less on "based on actual events". Seems a pity, since adding the Airport would have been no more difficult than the inclusion of the Port or Railway Terminal.

CaptainPatch,
The airport would have been a bigger structure so I'm thinking it wasn't included to keep the map more compact. As it is when you near the end and have a city over 80,000 the game engine slows down tremendously. Plus it would have been disappointing without flying planes, another graphics load to burden an already overly burdened system.
