Starting an island help.
This topic may of come up but o'well heres another one.
What traits(flaws,ect,ect...)should I have for my avatar when starting a island(campaign,sandbox-not god mode-,challenges)?
Also what buildings and edicts should I have to start of?

EDIT: On xbox how can you create challenges? And how can you look/play on other poeples island(xbox 360)?

Definitly Food for the masses edict,Military modernization and Literacy, as soon as you build an highschool at the first year and put their education to finish off as miltarists maybe prohibition because you probably are setting up an industry or an economy so ther aren't gonna be any pubs . And an important edict is the communist trade agreement it lets you put a basic housing for your ever complaining people without losing money , do not use building permit until later in the game when your going to brak down the old houses and start building better ones . Put on secret police and anyone who protests, make an accident out of him or put them to jail and you'll suddenly have no more protests .As for the rest put an immigration office as soon as you can and alter between open doors and skilled immigration (keep the staff high payed and they'l will stay at the office getting more experience and get you even more skilled persons at the start )when your overall happiness goes under 40 percent star gettin up those salaries with 1 dollar above the average caribean pay but also do not forget to push te fees 1 dollar up and also the rents . as far as the res goes look at prices of upgrading and building better industry (keeping an eye on your finances without angerin super powers so you can get the max of the foreign aid off both superpowers)

'Farmer' is one of the better general-use traits to start with.
For starting edicts Anti-litter Ordinance and Social Security are nice. If I'm going for a Swiss Bank Account score, I'll open with Building Permit as well.
I tend to build up in generations of buildings.
The first generation of buildings are usually 2-3 farms, 1-2 ranches and/or a wharf, possibly a mine. Depending on early cash I may put up a clinic, pub or restaurant as well. This tends to be the first 1-2 years.
2nd generation buildings are when I expand the infrastructure a bit with 1-2 new construction offices, another teamsters office, and a garage or 2. If I'm not going for a Swiss Bank Account score, this is also when I'll get the diplomatic ministry up and get USSR development aid. Generally 2-4 years into the game.
3rd generation buildings are when the first real housing comes into play with some apartment blocks and maybe a couple of houses. This is also when I'll add the high school and the Literacy Program edict. The immigration office and possibly an armory often get built at this time. This is the last pre-industrial push. Roughly years 4-6.
4th generation is when Tropico starts to become industrialized. This is when my 1st factory gets built. After the factory is up and running, I'll start to focus on neglected areas and prepare for later buildings. Building that first factory is sort of like castling the king in chess to me; signifying the end of the opening game and moving to the midgame.
Cash'll be low for awhile. I generally stay in the 0 to neg10k range for debt for the first few building generations. Your people's happiness rating will stink for awhile, possibly dropping below 40, but once it starts to climb again it should keep climbing. I've found that once I get my island to or past the 4th generation of buildings, that every election is a landslide in my favor, usually winning over 80% of the votes.
Obviously this is just a rough generalization that won't work on all islands, but has worked reasonably well for me, especially on sandbox maps.
