Shy Silly Idea About PC games freezing
I have to suggest that not everything that happens on a PC has to be "internal" to the PC - let alone to the program running.

I base that idea on my television reception. I now suffer with "high definition" TV over the air and not by cable.

edited: I have found that somewhere nearby a government agency is broadcasting emergency signals on an "old" frequency they have been using since before HDTV started. The signals on that "old" frequency "freeze" my over-the-air HDTV signal. I know that because I monitor a variety of emergency signals [on a radio monitor], and I observe that when [a particular] one is on [the radio monitor] - my TV [signal] freezes [for the exact period that the signal is on the monitor]. [Further, I experence the HDTV signal freeze for similar, random periods when the monitor radio is turned off -- indicating that it is the over-the-air signal and not my monitor radio that is the source of the problem.] end of edited material.

I am not suggesting any relationship between HDTV and a PC playing a game.

What I am suggesting is that there is a lot of electronic stuff flying about through the air which may not be so well in control as we are given to believe.

For what it is worth.

Ooh Brother. Another conspiracy theorist at work. If you put tinfoil on your head, the aliens can't read your thoughts. TongueBig Grin

That level of sarcasm does you no credit. So much for equal respect for ideas presented in good faith.

I'm not suggesting any sort of "conspiracy" is involved. What I am saying is that I have personally experienced what is obviously an unintended case of interference to the operation of one electronic device by broadcast signals from another electronic device.

If it can happen in one case, it may happen in other similar situations. If players continue to have random "freezing" incidents after going through all the common trouble shooting routines, perhaps they should consider external sources of interference.

That's hardly a "conspiracy theory" involving tinfoil hats.

Actually, the way your quote was written, it sure sounded like it. This was not an idea, or suggestion as you put it. It was solely based on opinions, and conjecture. I guess your entitled to your opinion though.

O.K. I'm apparently not an expert technical writer for electronic topics, and I was trying to be brief - as appropriate for a post on a non-technical discussion board.

I have edited the "technical" part to try to make it a tad clearer. Well, perhaps for some people.
