Change controls, uncomfortable.
Hello. I find the tropico 3 controls really uncomfortable, especially that I have the control the camera with the arrow-keys, and that I have to manually pause and such things. Is there a way that I can change these things through a config or ini file somewhere? I'd love to be able to control the camera with WASD and pause with P for example. Would really appreciate an answer.

I don't really know why ANY PC game made in the last decade (or longer) wouldn't include remappable camera/movement keys. That sort of customization is one of the strengths of the platform. When Dead Space had the same shortcoming, a freeware program called GlovePIE was recommended by several sources as a way to change inputs (even things like adding Wii remotes), effectively letting you remap keys for different programs. Dead Space didn't actually interest me enough to do all this...so I can't say much further about the program other than that a solution exists, if a cumbersome one. Smile

I don't want to put a direct link up obviously, but easy enough to find via a web search and it looks like the program is still maintained. (It also looks like the author is a bit ideologically...'interesting' still)

Remappable camera/movement keys and an 'all-in-one' camera mouse would be great. (Using the mouse cursor 'bumping' the sides to allow rotation like the alt key does now. The Total War series is a good example)

I wonder if TrackIr with Trackmapper (map keys to TrackIr movements) could be used?

Or, has anyone tried voice recognition? Perhaps a "Shoot" profile could be created.

The above two options would probably work great if keyboard shortcuts or hotkeys exist to pull up the various menus/views...

I'm brand new to the game so I don't know if keyboard shortcuts exist. My guess is "not currently".

I've found the Alt key to be less cumbersome than using the mouse wheel, although at times it seems the ALT left/right mouse combination doesn't always result in the desired movement. Could just be me...

Has anyone tried filming using "Fraps"? A Youtube video would be a great help to us un-presidential newbies. Wink
