Annoying crashes that always seem to happen when there are more than 200 houses!
Hello, I have GAR with the addon pack. Ive been enjoying this game immensely and the reign of augustus has really enhanced the game especially with the pillars.

Lately, Ive been experiencing constant and often random but very frequent crashes in freebuilding modes. This crashes happen after Ive built up and developed a very populous city with a number of supporting towns. It starts as unexpected crashes when I build platforms near cliffs or uneven plot. Then, it progresses into more than an annoyance when a simple addition like extending an aqueduct or building a farm or even raising a platfrom on ven land inadvertently crashes the game!! this has happened to me thrice and I had to erase 3 big cities because of the frustration of having to restart the game, load a recently crashed city, only for it to crash a minute later. ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!

I have played GAR even before the addon came out and I didn't suffer from this kind of game-spoiling crashes. I need to know if anybody else is experiencing this sort of recurring problem because im so tempted to uninstall this game right now!

I've never built a city with 200 houses so I whipped one together just to see if I would have computer issues. I had no problems. I don't know if I'm lucky or what but I am in North America and was able to download the expansion via the link Timo posted. The download process was painful and it took me quite a while to work through the issues but I managed to get everything to work and have played the expansion for many hours without any issues.

Note: I do have my graphics set low because it works better for the videos I have been making. When not making videos I play the game with the graphics almost completely maxed out. I have played the expansion with those settings with no issues.

Here's my first large city. I took the basic build from the Romanization city I built for the video walkthrough and expanded it significantly. The statistics are 221 houses; food, entertainment, and religion all over 90%; 100% health; income of over 17,000 denarii per minute with more available via expanded trade, all monuments built, all research completed. Authority is restored to 400 in a few seconds after each use. (I kept buying slaves with Authority then setting up trade posts to sell them.)

Hello.

I've the same problems with cities about 220/250 houses. But I've had this problem also in Imperium Romanum. I don't have a solution for this till now.

My system:

Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.lh_sp2rtm.090410-1830)
Language: German (Regional Setting: German)
System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
System Model: HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
BIOS: Default System BIOS
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T9400 @ 2.53GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.5GHz
Memory: 3070MB RAM
Page File: 2093MB used, 4246MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 10
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
DxDiag Version: 6.00.6001.18000 32bit Unicode

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce 9600M GT
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0649&SUBSYS_30F4103C&REV_A1
Display Memory: 1774 MB
Dedicated Memory: 495 MB
Shared Memory: 1279 MB
Current Mode: 1440 x 900 (32 bit) (59Hz)

So I don't think my system can't handle more houses and cities.

I look further for a solution.

Best regards

Marc
