I don't get it. It says in the manual that the campaign high score is based on a players cumulative campaign score. And obviously, from looking at some of the scores this must be the case. However my campaign scores are not accumulating!

Anyone know what am I doing wrong?

if you refer to the online high scores: for the challenges it's cumulative, for the campaign it's not.

That is not what it says in my paper manual or the pdf manual it says:

Quote:There are two High Score tables - Campaign High Score which compares players based on their cumulative campaign score and Challenge High Score which compares players based on the top 10 challenges they have won.

Does anyone know why my Campaign scores are no accumulating?

Well, in this case i would assume that the manual was printed before the final version of the game was released and that this information is not correct anymore. I just finished the last mission of the campaign again a few days ago and that score is now shown in the campaign high score list.

So the "printed" manual becomes more and more outdated and marginally useful as the game is patched and updated. IMHO, it was not a work of art initially - but who cares about my opinion?

Newbies may get sort of screwed by an outdated manual. Hopefully the in-game stuff gets updatded in the "hover-over" text.

Meanwhile, where does one go to find out the latest word on what's happening on the exciting "on-line" site for the game? Who does what to whom there and how often?

So what single campaigns are people playing that are getting them scores of over 200,000?

I played the last mission of the campaign (Freedom) and got almost 200.000. It's all about the money in the swiss bank account and the amount of people on your island. So next time i will hit the 200.000, i guess. The first (8) players with more than a million points are cheaters, i assume, but hey, maybe one of them will let us know how he or she got that such a high score...

Always wondered this too, so score is simply number of people and amount in swiss bank account. Does development of the island or happiness come into it?

No, not that simple. You are absoluty right with the happiness and the development, but to get a high score you will need as much (happy) people as possible and as much money in your swiss account, because this mission ends with having 500.000 in your normal account. So you try to invest as much money as possible in buildings and wages until 1989 and then reach the 500.000 at the end of the year. When i played it the last time i had only ~800 people but you should try to get all 1200 until 1990.

Are you on 360 or pc. Cause once my maps get too big on xbox I can't load them anymore.
Got any hints on how to score that high. My island develops well, happiness is high, but my scores aren't even close to yours.

I got a pc, so if you have troubles with large numbers of people, it will be very hard to get a high score. Well, here are some hints from a score whore :
First thing: choose booze baron! Last time i started building 3 mines(2x iron,1x bauxit) , then built the sugar farms. Go for the industry buildings first, pay the 20.000, build your first rum distillery. Once money starts rushing in build 2! oil refineries and more distilleries. Then start building lots of banks to get money into the swiss bank account. At the end i used a little trick to keep the normal account from reaching 500.000 to early. Just start building cathedrals (and put a building stop on them) to reduce your money in the normal account. When you reach 1989 tear the cathedrals down and get your money back to reach the 500.000 in december.

Thanks hightop for all the hints I'll give it a go. I'm so addicted to this game I'm tempted to buy the pc version simply so I can patch it.

You're welcome I bought a new graphics card from nvidia just because my ATI X1650 did not display the water and the famous save bug appeared as well, so i guess i'm addicted, too!

I haven't played the longer campaigns yet and couldn't see how those big scores were possible on the ones I have played.
