Tropico 3 Xbox 360 Update Status
As some of you might be aware of, despite the very strict and thorough testing of Tropico 3 on Xbox 360, a bug managed to slip in leading to some rare cases of savegame corruption on large population (500+) islands.

While this is a serious issue for those affected, it is not game breaking and the entire campaign and user generated challenges are still playable without any issues.

The developers are looking into the issue now and we will of course make this update available on Xbox Live as soon as we can.

From here on out, please use this thread to report any saving issues related to the Xbox 360 version of Tropico 3 to prevent the clutter. Other threads discussing these issues will be locked and/or deleted on sight.

Uh oh!

I think Tropico 3 would have benefitted from being exclusively for Play Station 3 instead, as it gets very little exclusive games.

PS3 gets far more exclusive games than Xbox 360. Just sayin'.

Another issue that needs to be addressed, which someone brought up in another post, is the menu/controller glitching issue. The only way to currently fix this problem is to exit out of the game and lose any unsaved data.

Details:
Menus stop displaying but act as if they have appeared (you can hear menu selections but cannot see them), or the pan/zoom functionality stops working, or I have had menus refuse to close.

The title update is going to address a number of issues, so rest assured that most of the problems people are experiencing will be fixed. We're going to provide a list of changes as soon as we can.

What does PS3 have to do with this game? And 360 has more exclusives....

Also The game is awesome, but please get the update out as soon as possible.

RE: Tropico 3 Xbox 360 Update Status
Is it true that the PC patch can just be modified to the 360, since the 360's hardware and framework, per say, is alike to the PC?

I'v seen alot of developers say this, (Valve, for instance, say that the 360 got the Orange Box and L4D because it was easy to port it), and was just wandering if true, how big of an impact it would have on the release schedule?

And the PS3 doesnt deserve a game this good. Let it milk Uncharted 2 for the rest of its very-soon-to-be-short life.

The savegame crash issue is Xbox 360-specific.

All the platform-independent gameplay fixes in recent PC patches (like the infamous great-grandmothers), of course, will also be included in the patch.

RE: Tropico 3 Xbox 360 Update Status
That was a different savegame crash, that occured while you were typing the name of a savegame.

The current Xbox 360 savegame crash occurs when you try to load an (already successfully saved) game.

Savegames, especially in a game with so much "state" (the current parameters, and actions, etc. of several hundred units and buildings) are a complex problem, and unfortunately error-prone.

That's in the PC changelog of the recent patch? Unless I'm misunderstanding, if so I apologize.

I think the publishers have not been quite crystal clear on this. While I am guessing, it seems to me that that the PC game had one problem and the Xbox360 had a separate and distinct problem. While both problems seemed to affect some similar phases of the game, they had different underlying causes in the code relating to the "platform" as distinct from the rest of the "gameplay" code.

The PC "platform" code has to work in a highly complex environment of the player's individualized machine. The Xbox360 "platform" code has an entirely different set of variables relating to how the standard console is wired to a so-called standard TV viewing device.

Whilst my tinfoil covered miter may interfere with my understanding, I think it is jumping to conclusions to think that PC patches are a simple cross-walk to Xbox360 patches.

I have one that I haven't seen on the boards yet. When I load a saved game using the "continue" option from the main menu, my music turns off. It is a simple fix of going into the options and moving the slide bar back into place, but I thought I would mention it. Of course this is really minor compared to the other stuff.

Yes, this is a known issue that got fixed in the PC version with one of the previous patches, and will get fixed in the upcoming 360 patch as well.

This might have been mentioned already, but I am not sure so I will mention it. I noticed a massive amount of slowdown with one of my larger islands (300+ people), at this point whenever Presidente needed to give a speech the audio would run just cut in and out. After that I installed the game to my Xbox and I am hoping that will help it to run faster.

And regarding 360/PS3 - both are great - neither is perfect - but owning both will give you more games then you have time to play them, so it is the only way to go. : )

Well, the game is great, but after only THREE sandbox games, i've been experiencing this:

Savegame issues. It's very annoying to spend lots of time building a city, and then it gets corrupted when saving it, and it's impossible to open nor bring back.

Loadgame issues. Right now i've been trying to load a city i've built and saved with success, but it wont load it.

Anyhow, the game is useless until this fix comes around. It is very sad that you sent this game out in retail too early, so people had to experience these problems. Especially for all those gamers that dont have Xbox Live, and dont know about this forum.

This might be a bug too. As I build larger islands I notice that my export money is not making it's way into my treasury. For example, I'll see a message that I made $47,000 in exports but my treasury isn't updating at all. So either it is a bug or Juanito is embezzling from the treasury, I better send the secret police to check him out.

Yep, I believe the population was around 300 people, but I did have a lot of buildings at that point and I use a ton of decorations, so maybe that is why.

I've asked this questions in other threads but as this is the offical 360 patch thread i was wondering, will this patch enable us to load our old island which have been blocked by this loading error? or will it just fix the problem for future islands??

So far it seems that it WILL allow you to load your old islands - all the ones we've seen work - but no promises for all islands; there might be some savegames which are corrupted itself, due to the same problem that breaks the loading process.

Iv sometimes had a message saying "A freighter was not serviced." Even with 4 dock workers in the building. Happens, rarely, one every 10 games.
