Join the League of Tropico!
Hello Kalypso Forum Members!

I'm Capitaligous, a longtime member of Cafe Tropico (a Tropico 1/2/3 fan site).

I'd like to inform you all of a Tropico 3 Government Simulation, titled the League of Tropico, which was a great idea initially brought up at the cafe in 2005 for Tropico. Basically, El Presidente is the only person playing the game, but provides updates in the form of almanac reports/screenshots/statistics to his ministers, which are the bulk of the members involved in the League.

We're looking for some Tropico 3 players (though you don't have to own the game to become a member!) to come join the league, as we're starting over to switch from Tropico to Tropico 3. All positions on both islands (we run two islands at the same time; Tropico and Enrosia) are open for the taking.

RE: Join the League of Tropico!
Basically, there are a number of "Departments" created; an example would be "Dept. of Education", "Dept. of Labor", "Dept. of Health" and the list goes on, limited only by the creators imagination. Along with the departments, a description is added stating what each department is responsible for, though most are pretty obvious.

From there, once enough ministers are picked, the person playing as El Presidente starts the game and after a set period of time, usually 3-5 years, this person post important information for all the ministers to decide upon. Information like that from the Almanac, treasury amount, etc. Any information you want that isn't included, simply ask for and it will be posted ASAP. Once all the information is gathered, each minister makes choices based on his/her department. Education Minister decides to build a College at "X" location, or turn the high school from general ed. to religious ed.; the Health Minister decides another clinic needs to be built at "X" location, and one of the existing ones should go to "obstetrics".

Once all THIS information is gathered, El Presidente executes these wishes and in another 3-5 years (Whatever is decided upon) he/she posts an update, and the Ministers again decided on what to do based on this new information.

Think of it as a multiplayer way to play Tropico.

In Dixie Land where I was born,
Early on one frosty mornin',
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land!

It may seem a little strange at first, but when acquainted with the whole set up, it makes Tropico 3 even more enjoyable.

Due to the fact you don't have to play the whole part in the government and that work with other members to accomplish your views, Tropico 3 is taken to a whole new level of playability.

Is there a need to have a lot of time, I mean, for our own, or we can play an hour or two each week (I'm a little bit busy these last weeks)?

You only need to show up anywhere from one to four times per week, depending upon which position you play.

So, those who don't have too much time can take positions with less responsibility. Smile

And do you suppose that perhaps you should show up somewhat more often to "service" the newbies you have attracted by your advertisement here?

Yes. It's been thoroughly updated, and is now ready for applicants!

Update

We just had four members accepted to their positions, but there's still plenty of room for more.

RE: Join the League of Tropico!
I'd like a position related to either military or industry.

I want to either make the cigars or be smoking them.

Capitalist (+++) Leader
Religious (+++)
Intellectual (++)
Nationalist (++)
Militarist (+)
Communist (-)
Environmentalist (--)
Loyalist (--)

We can do that!

The Minister of Defense or Minister of Urban Development position might be the best for you.

We'll be starting this up soon. If you'd like to get in before that happens, it would be greatly appreciated.
