Is there influence of wind direction in Tropico 3?
I'd like to give you this question.

Since this problem may be related to polulion problem. The wind may bring the poluted air originated from industrial buildings (power plant is the heaviest one) to the residential area if we don't carefully observe rigth at the start of planning the island.

It seemed this feature existed in Tropico 1? Who remember it well? maybe, the wind direction was recognized by cloud movement ?

If no, okies, I'm not so serious about it but it's more easier, just place the most heaviest poluted building away the residential area, the more farest the more better, at some rear side of the island.

I tested this a while ago and found no evidence for that wind direction is still an issue in T3 - pollution sources radiate in each direction as much and there are no longer clouds to give the player a hint. Another sad loss from T1...

Pollution from industry is affected by the direction of the wind.

Okies,

I think no problem, if there is wind direction, there must be a fluctuation/waving for tree branches, water, storms, hurricanes,... as real effection, it may consume more hardware resource.

Anyone here tried for Crytek yet?

Tell me how can we recognize it?

I think you are saying yes, 'coz sometimes I don't understand why the polution still happenend rather seriously to my residential area (dark yellow radiation) even though I planned the industrial zone far away and keep my people in clean houses (apartment at least).

That's great news, but as Little Dragon pointed out only when it is clearly visible from where the wind is blowing (and of course if that direction is constant over the course of the game!)

It would be good if you could build a wind sock at the airport or even the power plant, to see which way the wind blows:

Yet another T3 "tweek" which is implied to depend upon a variable wind -- direction unknown.

No English language strategy guide; and the German language one is less than complete.

Maybe a new patch is needed soon. The patch may remove the effection of poluted air's movement if there is it actually or add smt (clouds?) to let us observe it.

I think the reason they removed the clouds from Tropico 3 was due to the new 3D game and rendering engine that it was using, as in Original Tropico the game engine was 2D, and 2D clouds are easy to render. 3D clouds, on the other hand, are much harder to get right. I think another reason that they omitted clouds from Tropico 3 is because they sometimes have a habit of blocking the view of the island, I can remember many times when playing the original game that the clouds often covered up the island when you zoomed out, which made planning the development of the island a bit frustrating.

I think if they made the cloud cover in Tropico 3 a bit less dense than in Original Tropico then clouds could become a realistically attainable feature in the game, but obviously the problem still arises of making the clouds look realistic and not gaudy looking.

RE: Is there influence of wind direction in Tropico 3?
Yep,

Anyway, as you could see, Tropico 3 is just at its initial stage and we'll surely see more improvement coming along. The latter ones will make the previous ones better.

Since Tropico is a game, related to which there are so many fields the developer can rely on to develop and the gamers can enjoy uninterruptedly: politics, city building, economy system management, tourism, landscape, environment, military, virtual life, etc and etc. This is what is still happening in the real life in the earth. This may be endless themes that Kalypso/Haemimont can exploit with exp by exp, as the same case with 'The Sims' series that E.A is still feeding it as a milky cow. Just take time with the present engine then expand new ideas, new thoughts (it seemed smn proposed an idea that the El Presidente could drive a car around the island, that's a great idea, the game would be a FPS or driving game at that time, and if he can do combating directly, is it not GTA4 style in Tropico?).

In conclusion, Tropico is an endless story, though the game is just limited within the preriod of 1950-1990.

Furthermore, it's also great if they shall keep this series under new generation of graphics, I mean dx10, dx11 (Tropico 4 in the future ?). For me dx9 is too old with Win Xp and Win Xp is just a past now.

Btw, just curious if Kalypso/Haemimont is receiving a fruitful result of releasing Tropico 3. I'm meaning the turnover (1 mil copies reached after the release date until now?)
