Btw, a side note, i just loaded a 420 population island. I loaded up the guide and flicked through the blades while it loaded, it froze for a second but then loaded again. Pretty developed island. Maybe a little work around.
EDIT: Just tried it on a 455 pop island in the year 2030. Loaded fine. Someone else please give this a go. The first time i tried it i had the game installed in my hard drive, the second time i didnt. More tests needed.
you're wasting your time. the game need a patch.
I'm not gonna boycott tropico 3 but all the kalypso products. obviously they don't care.
6 months damn!

Shhh.. if you say that they'll get mad!
Start with a big flat pancake of an island, start with max # of citizens, and play for years after your mandate is over. I reached 500 in a few of the challenges.
I noticed your responses and just wanted to comment. While I did what you did and just played the challenges and moved on from scenario to scenario, this issue is a very serious problem if you actually want to build a huge island and see through its progress over the long term. For some players, the appeal of the sandbox mode is what drew them to the game (and based on the number of responses and threads on this forum and in other websites, it is clearly not just a few die hard players making all this fuss about the game's problems).
I disagree with your take and would strongly urge the developers to fix this issue first before considering any kind of expansion pack for the game. It would make more sense to patch a huge flaw in the game, rather than continue on another project when clearly a lot of folks have been impacted by the issues.
That said, we can both probably expect neither to happen because it is clear from the indifference (or ineptitude) of the folks in this company that neither will be done. The folks at this wonderful company are likely going to do what they've done so well up to this point - which is hide under a rock.
Back to playing RDR!

My last game which failed to load once pop reached 501 people I did use a custom avatar. I'll have another go with one of the premade man and see.
I made and tested that, it looked like it was the issue and workaround however after more testing (and reports that the workaround didnt work) it seems it isnt the solution. I wanted to report it in the thread but cant seem to find it anymore.
Anyway, after comparing saves that have the issue and those that don't the conclusion is that it may be building related or save game size related (those that load are 5 mb those that dont 6 mb (or the other way around, cant remember)).
For instance my girlfriend always has the issue with saves but also builds a lot of AOE and buildings that require power. I dont build any buildings that require power and the only AOE I ever build are police stations. It may also be a combination of things. I spend heaps of time trying to proof that the save game condition occured with custom dictators only to find that even with all the care i took it wasnt enough and cant be bothered to go and do the same with non custom dictators and aoe plus power buildings allready knowing from my gf that those do have the issue.
Bottomline, if you guys are in such a need of data then come get it. You are more then welcome to rip all my saves from my xbox so you have field data. Gamertag: DrAtomic1.

Yes buut kalypso are ignoring us completely, so how are we meant to do this, and i doubt microsoft care much about 50,000 people, when theres over 2 million different people playing Call of Campy every day...

RE: 360 users with Save game loading issues
I haven't had save issue problems at the 400-600 level, but I do have major performance problems when my population reaches 1100 people at around the year 1998 so yeh, think that's a given more than a error in terms of problems.
Although it is a pain in the ass when my game crashes before year 2000 before I can submit my islands because they are too big and my comp crashes to desktop lol.
EDITS: I play PC and not 360 users, that's stupidity on my behalf, sorry for wasting 30seconds of your life by you reading haha.

Whenever I load up a population of 400+, none of my buildings show up. Sometimes the save will not load.

RE: 360 users with Save game loading issues
I just bought the game yesterday after having looked for it forever. I started a sandbox mode and got to about 400 or so people and saved and shut it off... Cam back today and tried to load it up and it freezes Really bad first impression Kalypso.

RE: 360 users with Save game loading issues
I haven't played Tropico in maybe 6 months because I don't want to invest time in something I won't be able to play. And unless Kalypso addresses this, you can bet your bottom dollar I will NOT be buying any of their products in the future.

RE: 360 users with Save game loading issues
So it doesn't seem like they are going to fix the Xbox 360 version and all it's bugs are they. I bought this game a week ago because I loved the demo and I read some reviews on amazon.com that where 1 star ratings and most said it had really bad bugs. But I chose to ignore them thinking they where just exaggerating but nope I got this game and have had save issues.
I loaded up one of my save's and I couldn't zoom up or down I was just stuck with the default view and my population was no more than 100-200 people and it was in the campaign that is just one of the few problems I have had. Why bother releasing the game on the Xbox 360 if you are just going to ignore it doesn't make sense. I mean if you guys are not going to bother patching the Xbox 360 version then just come out and say it and then people can move on. Yes people will be mad but at least they have an answer. This will be last game I buy from these developers that's for sure. It's a shame because the game is actually really great and addictive.
