List of bugs
although there's another thread where the players can shout their disappointment, there's no clean and specific list of bugs...

Let's help the kalypso to improve the game:
- the timing window should be visible by default but in a way that it does not hide half of a track!
- No feedback from the drivers (more over they do a lot of mistakes, I think too many)
- What's the role of driver race engineer then? They also does not provide you any information how to set up a car, not only the wing angles but maybe something more which is settable like tyre air pressure, balance and so on... this game is full of settings but the player doesn't know how to use them!
- Add flags during the training / quals / race
- I picked up 11 teams for my game (22 drivers, just as IRL) and there were 17 drivers qualified to Q2 and 12 drivers in Q3 (should be 16 and 10 respectively!)
- At the end of the race I get best lap times in the table, not the total racing times Sad
- During the race it's irritating that the view of a track comes back to default when any of the race animation ends
- In 1920*1200 resolution 33% of the screen is black (useless)

HI

I have written here http://forum.kalypsomedia.com/showthread.php?tid=4487 some errors, and one more.
The number for the drivers is wrong ordered, because the test drivers has number also. The first team has the number 1,2 and 3. The 2nd the 4,5 and 6, instead of first has 1 and 2 + T, and 2nd 3 and 4 +T etc...

After the 1st season finishes, around November, when trying to further develop parts I get constant crashes to desktop, be it aerodynamic or mechanical parts. The crash happens at the same moment: when selecting the existing development slot. IF I create a new development, it doesn't crash. (I can send a save game to try and reproduce the crash). This makes it impossible to refine and improve parts where already 1 seasons work was put in. (small correction: it only seems to happen with parts that have a PI of around 31. I can further develop parts at 25 PI or so)

Also, when mechanical researches finish, no email message is created.
At medium it is incredibly easy to get money, I started off with a new team (angelo racing), and by the end of the 1st season I have 130M USD on my account, can't really find ways to spend it...Also it's kind of unrealistic that top drivers are willing to join your crappy team when giving them enough money.

When you try to recruit new staff, it would be great if the email would mention for what position the person was recruited, or which position he rejected.

Other stuff was mentioned already above, so I'm not going to repeat. Could be a fun little game if some of the annoying bugs, or non-existing features were fixed/added.

Hi,


I'd like to confirm than I got all the bugs mentioned above too! They're real, nobody's dreaming!!!

- The "suggested resolutions" are only for 4/3 (ex: 1024x768), 5/4 (ex: 1280x1024), & 16/10 (ex: 1440x900) displays. For any of the "HD" resolutions, or in other words for any 16/9 resolutions, you have to edit this file manually: "C:\Program Files\Kalypso\Pole Position 2010\DATA\config.dat". You'll only get more unused screen space anyway, since the native desk resolution is about 1680x1050 (16/10), and the windows coming over are about 1280x1024 (5/4)... Then why at least aren't we allowed to play it windowed???

- As already said, when you reach december, you can't "further develop" anymore. Instead you got an ugly crash, and since there's no automatic save, in my case I had to restart a new game. You're always happy when it happens after 4 hours. You'll be able to further develop next 1st january, no need to try before.

- Unlike the other months, there is no salaries / wages paid at the end of december! That's so unfair for the employees!

- Sometimes while practicing or qualifying, who knows why, you'll get an "hidden penalty" making your first lap out of the stands twice longer than it should (ex: 3:10.486 instead of 1:35.243)! That's not a big issue tho, since the first lap is never the best one.

- If you decide to build an "infrastructure", let say in France, it'll increase the USA bonuses in the country's list. That the same for any countries, they're somehow probably not displayed in the good order.

- The whole game seems pretty badly balanced. I did my first try with everything to medium, but I found the opponents too strong and the development's time too long. So I did my second try with the opponents set to "Easy", and the development speed to "Very easy". Then once in the game, it simply made no difference at all.

- The whole staff seems useless. You'll see on the next point than I got a 15.000.000$ fine, but hopefully I saved my game the day before. So I reloaded it and tried to fire my lawyer, just to check if he makes any difference. Guess what? Same fine, with or without him.

- And here comes the issue which made me stop playing that game. The Regulations' screen tell us than we're allowed to use a "steering system" with "power steering" & "active steering" enabled. So I just spent 2 years in development, making my own car's parts according to those regulations specs. But once I felt my steering system ready to be tested, it got rejected by the rule's check, and I had to pay a 15.000.000$ fine! This is exactly the same steering system than the ones I used to buy, except this one is out of my production chain!


Enough is enough, game's back in the box. I'm pretty sure it haven't been tested more than some in-game's months. If only ONE of your guy took the time to play it one weekend, he'd find all those bugs before us, the clients. Unfortunately, it looks like the developer's team who worked on it didn't find it funny enough to try it that much...

Thanks to the lazy developers who didn't try to hide anything, I found how to fix my "steering system" rejected by the rule's check!!! Here's how I did:

Edit the concerned savefile (stored here: "C:\Program Files\Kalypso\Pole Position 2010\SAVE") with nothing more than NotePad. If you don't know which one is your last save, you can sort them by date, then the most recent one... Is your most recent save. Smile So in my case, I had to right-click "save8.dat" -> Open with... -> Notepad. Now you can see the content of the file, starting by the in-game date & the name you gave to your character, then a bunch of "-1", "0" & "1", separated by spaces, then sometimes a semicolon, and so on... The settings of your parts are somewhere in that mess! But how to find them? My steering-system name is "Steering system-1", so why not trying to find that? Push CTRL+F (or go in the "Edit" menu and click "Find"), and write the part's name exactly like it is written in the game. If you have already produced some piece of that part, you'll find many occurrences. To modify the blueprint of them, click "Next" until a box tells you than NotePad can't find anything else. You'll see something like that: "Steering system-1;49.149 8.306 100 120 8.086 1 1 0 89.829 4.401 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 68.234" (the interesting area ends just before the "---" or the next part's name). Now how to translate that? Well, if you know your part a bit, you should recognize its specs easily:

PI:     Performance Index.
PI+:    Performance Index added at the end of the next research.
NFDRT:  Next Further Development Research Time (in days).
Unused: All the parts don't need the same amount of parameters...
RT:     Current Research Time (in days). A "-1" here means than the research is done.

So as you can see, there's a third steering option, which I called "Unknown option". This option doesn't exist, but by default the game put a "0" instead of a "-1", which means "Disabled" instead of "Unused"! To fix the problem, simply replace it by a "-1", and the parts won't be rejected anymore.

That's it. I just proved how easy it would be to avoid such a bug before the release of the game. What a shame...

Missing features/bugs:
- Please add an option to disable in-race "3d overtakes"... they are just annoying.
- More feedback from drivers about the set-up
- Feedback about fuel (in this track how much is consumed in average, etc.

I agree, this is really annoying, you need to be in "extra fast" speed to skip them :x

An other missing feature:

When a new season begins, the rules should be randomly changed. I'm at my 3rd season with the same team, and still the same rules :o

OK, now I completely give-up: I'm in november 2013, the day before the last race. I can't save since half october or the game crashes producing a corrupted savefile, and I can't further develop or the game will crash too: Unfortunately, after thinking about it a bit, I decided to further develop my transmission one more time. Such a development takes about 120 days, and anyway I was pretty sure than the bug about further developments only takes place after the last race. Well, I was wrong obviously.

When you start using strategies against the game's bugs more than against the game's goals, there is no more fun.
