Screen gets blocky and cant see background
I am trying to play Tropocio 3, and the graphics act up when the game needs to load. it looks like a bunch of small blocks the make up the picture are all in the wrong place. Does this sound familiar to anyone cuz i cant seem to fix it, I even took it to have it looked at and they didnt know what was wrong with it.

RE: Screen gets blocky and cant see background
So there is a picture issue only when it loads? Does the rest of the game works fine or the game does this during loading and fails to load also?
Also, to verify loading, do you mean the loading screen when you start a game or opening company advertisement loading before you reach the main menu?
It could be one of many things relating to the GPU or something else.

Standard procedure would say to make sure your up to date on your GPU drivers, and if you are even try going back to the previous version to see if it corrects the issue.
If its the opening company advertisement then you may check Adobe and update your Flash and also go to Microsoft to check your Direct X updates. If your GPU fan kicks up and gets loud then their may be a physical issue with the GPU or it may not be compatabile, as in sufficient, no details given but I'm sure you are able to judge and know if it is or isn't capable enough.

You may also go your control panel, open your GPU control panel, and adjust the graphical settings and graphical/power restrictions for your graphics card specificly with Tropico 3 to see if it corrects the problem.

RE: Screen gets blocky and cant see background
The game starts up fine, I will go to start a new campaign, then click to start Bananas and when the game loads, the screen get all distorted with tiny blocks so I cant see the proper image. Then when its done loading It brings me to the select avatar screen, which looks fine, then after clicking my avatar the game loads breafly with a distorted image again, once at the island it looks fine.

Also, once I am at the Island, I think that I am not seeing some things. I see an island with trees, but when I zoom in most of the trees disipear. It askes me to build farms and I dont see anything once I click an area to build. But the little map on my left shows things are already on the island, that are growing and changing but I only see an empty island. Then it tells me a ship has docked, where I can see this happening in the little map, but on my screen I only see the ocean moving like a boat should be there yet I see no boat.

bellalyn, what are your PCs specs? Can you post a DxDiag report here by any chance?

For what it's worth, I have a similar, but less severe problem. All loading screens, the initial one and also those during autosaves, are just shown as colored blocks. The only thing that shows up properly in those screens are the quotes.

The rest of the game is fine (I see all buildings and trees), so it's more of an aesthetic problem.
