RE: Save game crash
Does the latest patch fix this problem? Sounds like the same issue I was having when I stopped playing the game, and I certainly won't be wasting my time trying to play it again until it is fixed.

And seriously Kalypso, what's with the crash completely deleting ALL autosave progress? Did no-one think of alternating between two autosave files?

The first rule of computer games development: If in doubt, copy what everyone else does.

A crash is bad. A crash that erases all of a player's progress is absolutely criminal. A crash that erases all of a player's progress that gets reported an goes unfixed for six months? Words fail me.

So adapt your own suggestion and alternate between two manual saves. Its not the best solution but if you remember to keep saving your game (every year or so) then you will be able to play with a minimum of risk.

I use this system myself on most games that allow manual saves.

I could do that.

I'm not going to though.

I've got five or six hours to replay just to get back to where I was when my progress was erased, there are a load of other stability issues that are going to eat my progess any time I've forgotten to save, and I've got countless other stable games to play that aren't going to be an exercise in frustration.

As I said on another thread, to have an issue of this magnitude reported and go unfixed for as long as it has is absolutely disgraceful. I'm not going to implement a work around. I shouldn't have to. Kalypso can clean up their mess, and in the meantime, I won't be playing Tropico 3, I won't be buying the expansion, and I won't be in the market for Tropico 4 or any other game Kalypso put out.

I don't think that's particularly unreasonable.
