CD KEY Invalid or Already in Use
Hello I just purchased Grand Ages Rome from Steam for the Summer Sale and it appears the CD-KEY is invalid or already in use. Any idea where to go from here to get multiplayer working as I would really like to play with a friend who also just bought the game. I have also submitted a ticket to STEAM support and am waiting for a reply.

I am having the same problem.
I've contacted Steam Support, and tried everything they told me to. But the problem persists.
They told me that this is a matter of Kalypso and not Steam Support.

Same thing happened to myself and my friend. We both got the game on steam for the summer sale and it gave us both the same message. Steam replied to my support ticket and everything they told me to do didnt work. They told me to contact Kalypso.

I finally received a response from STEAM support today and after following a few steps to ensure the game is working properly (It already Was.) STEAM Support has done nothing to issue me a working key and have instead directed me to this forum and Kalypso Support stating such issues are handled by the 3rd party.

-If you are running in Windows Vista or Windows 7, please completely exit Steam, and right-click on the shortcut which you use to launch Steam and select "Run as Administrator."

-If you are running in Windows XP, take the following steps:
1) Exit Steam.
2) Go to the "Start" menu, select "Run", type "regedit" and click "OK".
3) Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VALVE
4) Right click and select "Permissions"
5) Check the "Allow" boxes for "Admin" and "System" for both "Full control" and "Read".

I also have a friend who purchased the game via STEAM the same day but he hasn't tried to register his account yet. I've sent an email to Kalypso support hoping to get the issue resolved.

We've been experiencing login server issues which should be resolved now. Logging into an existing account or registering new accounts should work normally again.

Timo, the registration problem is still there.
Well, at least for me it is.

I have just checked with two of my friends, they are still having the problem and cannot register.

Yeah, i'm getting the exact same problem.
I copy the CD Key from Steam and paste it to the "Serial number" Field.
It says it's wrong or already in use.
Please... Fix it.

I received an email from Kaylpso support today stating the same thing but after just trying to input the key and create my account I'm now getting a simular but different error. No matter which formating I use on the CDKEY it will not register. All lower case with or without dashes and all uppercase with or without dashes. Nothing works. Better feed them server admins some more pizza Smile

I have the same problem , today i received an email from steam , in this email the tell to my to re-name a file to *****.Blob to ******Old.Blob But the problem is still here , I tried to patch the game to version 1.11 but nothing...

Sadly STEAM will not refund the purchase. The blame lies entirely with Kalypso according to their policies. This doesn't bode will for my future purchases on STEAM when dealing with Kalypso media. I don't ever expect to get a working CDKEY from Kalypso. I had no problems with my Tropico 3. Mind you I have not tried to install the expansion yet as I have other games I'm busy with. No email responses from Kalypso or follow ups yet in the game you can purchase a new STEAM CDKEY WTF?

Is anyone able to play multiplayer GAR? Where is our working CDKEYS? Not happy Kalypso.

Well at least some of you got replies... I sent an email to kalypso support about 3 weeks ago and nothing.... Then I sent a PM to TIMO to see if he could help again nothing... Seems to me that they have better things to do than Respond to paying customers, regardless to where it was purchased.... I purchased this game for 2 other people and myself through steam and well as all of you are stating I am having the same damn problem.... Perhaps this will warrant a response.... Since being polite and patient does not work.... Thanks Kalypso....

I'm waiting for a response from 12 days, but apparently I'm beginning to think that you were not even thinking to solve the problem, so I hope with this post may have some answer. I spent unproductively money for a game that does not work online.

I have paid for this game mostly because of the Multiplayer.
It's been days.. weeks! And you still can't fix this issue?

Steam Support and Kalypso Support give the same instructions for solving this problem.
This is really getting annoying. Serious and committed developers would fix this issue within 2 days, or less.

Why does it take you(Kalypso) so long to find the source of this problem?
