I just used the disk to install the game and when I try to run it says “Original disk not found; Please make sure the original disk is inserted into a drive and can be accessed by the computer”

Anyone else getting this?

Same problem, just sent an email to their tech support, and am waiting for a reply.

i get this also. reinstalled ,turned antivirus off ,checked dx dia ,i have adm. rights,ect.

Ouch. Hope you guys get a patch on this soon. You can always check the internet for a no-CD hack. Just be sure to backup your original .exe as there are other versions of the game out there.

This one time (at band camp) my friend was having a similar problem with a different game.

In her particular case, it was caused by a disk image emulator (like Daemon Tools or something similar). Even though she had a legitimate, store-bought version of a particular game installed and had the correct disc in the optical drive, the mere presence of that disk image emulator on her PC was causing a very similar error message. If you have something of that nature installed on your PC, it wouldn’t hurt to completely remove it and see if the “Original disk not found…” problem goes away.

Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case, as I completely removed PowerISO, restarted, reinstalled and still ran into the error.

Nor do any of the crack only torrents I find seem to be usable, as all text in the game is replaced by "strid not found: <insert item name here>". 'Tis a sad case.

Can't be that since I have a legal UK edition and Daemon Tools. Cracking is worth a try.

Normally I don't talk about cracks in this kind of forums, but for this kind of problem, use the a crack is the way to go.

I did just that. I found one that works with one catch. When selecting the class for your main guy he is always a fighter. I tried the rogue and the wizard but as soon as I get into the game my guy is a fighter…

Is this happening to people who are not having the original disk error?

Also, I am not using any type of copy program and never have on this PC.

Chances are your disc is damaged or there's a compatibility issue with the drive you're running it from. You could try another drive or check if there's a firmware update available. If you can detect physical damage to the disc itself, please refer to your software manual on how to get a replacement copy.

Please stop promoting the use of illegal cracks for this game or you might risk a warning/ban. Thanks for your understanding!

All the leaders in the campaigns are melee leaders. What you selected seems to be Lord type, the general style how you play. E.g. Mage lord can cast two spells instead of one each day.

For hotseat the ability to choose leader is missing. This is a known bug.

If my disk was damaged would it have allowed a complete install?

Also, I have two different drives on this system and I got the same error from both.

the disk looks perfect. I brought it to work and tried installing it on 3 other pc's ( I work for an IT Dept) I got the same message... do you still think a bad disk... I am hoping it a bug they are working on...

It's definitely not a bug with the game as other copies are working fine and only a minority of customers are affected. I still believe it's due to a faulty disc. You may wish to try and get a replacement from your local vendor but if they can't or won't help you for whatever reason, we offer replacement discs as per the instructions in your manual.

That's good to know Tim. I just noticed that when I go into the folder where the files are to be> There is nothing in there!!!! Just a short cut! I also checked "show hidden files" still nothing I bet your right! DISK!

If you don't know how to do it, here's how: Press Print Scren button, usually above Enter. Open Paint, press Ctrl+V and save it. Then upload to http://imageshack.us/

Well I've never seen this error in my life from any other game I've ever played.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like support is just trying too pass the buck, and not actually fix this problem?

Has anybody that has downloaded the game from the main website or through steam run into this problem?

I think the game use a read only copy protection and maybe a some dvd drives have problem to work with this copy protection. I have the problem with c&c3. The disk in drive and the game say "put the disk in your drive".

The russian version use StarForce v5 and the english version ProtectDiSC. New driver can install for the russian version, but for the english version not. The last driver for ProtectDiSC can only download by a customer from ProtectDiSC.

Maybe this tips can help you guys:

• Update your firmware from your dvd drive
• don't use damon tools or virtual drives on your pc
• don't use images with a virtual drive
  

Its not the disk at all I have replaced it 4 times. The protect disk has not worked for me either.

well I bought a legit copy of the disc, all my drivers are updated and I don't have any type of virtual drive installed on my computer and I'm still getting the original disc not found

I am getting this error too. Just installed the game after I uninstalled the demo. This is my work computer so there should be no pirating type software installed on it.

I just picked up my NA disk today and it installed fine, but "original disk not found". I also do not have any imaging software. I hope they find a fix to this soon, I'm dying to play!

I bought the NA version today as well, have same bug.

Disc looks great, no scratches.

I don't have any kind of disc emulator program.

I am running windows vista. I have tried starting the game in administrator mode, I have tried starting it with Norton Anti-virus deactivated. I have uninstalled, restarted my comp, reinstalled, and then tried again with all of these variables. Same error every time.
