Even more comical is that in your rage you completely missed his second post above you.
My rant is not about the patch coming out or not coming out on Monday. My rant is about releasing a broken game with countless problems. I don't care enough about the game to "rage". I just think it is irresponsible.

Maybe we should have pressed Dennis for a clarification on his promised solution by Monday.

Which Monday?

So... should I just download a no CD hack? Crap, I could have just got the game off a download site.

RE: Patch on monday?
Probably many of you are in the same boat as me.

Yes I could try and get my money back (no sure thing), but I really was looking forward to this game and enjoyed the demo.

So...

although I have never experienced a bug like this in 30 years of pc gaming that out-of-the-box the game disc isn't recognized,

and I don't for the life of me understand why there appears to be an attempt to bundle a hotfix with a multiple-bug fix (just release the hotfix now to allow the buyers the opportunity to play, bugs and all, and fix the bugs later),

...I disappointingly will continue to monitor this forum and hope to see a patch released soon.

Very frustrating!

Wow, that's lame.

I've been waiting for this game for 4 years, pre-ordered it from GameSpot, and paid extra for it to be delivered overnight.... Grand total of about $50 bucks....Just so it could sit on my desk since last Wednesday because apparently there's nobody working in Kalypso's Quality Assurance department, or maybe because they just don't give an imp's bald ass about their customers... because the DVD they sold me apparently has strange properties of invisibility upon insertion to an optical drive.

Boy, don't I feel like a world-class sucker?

I would much prefer a straight answer from these guys, right now. If the No-CD hotfix is going to be delayed for a couple days, please let us know. That way, I'm able to do other stuff instead of haunting D3.com and this forum for hours on end...

So. I guess "Monday" is out. What's it going to be? Next Monday? Next month? Tomorrow? Can we get a clue? I think you owe us that much Kalypso... you have our $40 and all we've got is bitter disappointment.

RE: Patch on monday?
Guys, I am in the same boat (pre ordered, paid extra fast shipping, waited all weekend, checked the forums for a Monday fix 20 times today - and still wasn't able to play)

As some folks here mentioned before...there are some temporary fixes...I finally caved in and tried something and have been playing for 3.5 hours (actually, haven't encountered any bugs yet)

Quite frankly, the patch we are waiting for that will fix the "no original disc" error is probably similar to the temporary fix that you can get and apply yourself.

bottom line: I'm still waiting for the fix from .dat, because I paid for this game and want to be able to play it as its designed, not through some work around.

As a 30 year gamer I can say that I am returning this game tomorrow.
I probably wont buy any kalypso products again.
To have such a big issue right out of the new sealed box... Who does that?
Very Dissapointed!

I contacted the seller from amazon... he's giving me a bunch of crap for trying to return the game. I guess it's not his fault that the game wont install. I will end up spending half the night on the phone with amazon trying to get my money back!

Game Stop is being cool about it - They can take it up with Calypso etc... I refuse to purchase stuff that needs fixing (and cant be fixed) out of the box. Although it is not Game Stops fault they are providing good customer service and I will recommend and do more business with them in the future.

That's cool. There wasn't a gamestop around with the game in stock. I just went with the next best thing, amazon.

Well the gamestop I went to would only give me a trade in of the same product or store credit. No cash back refunds not even a deposit back on my card. No use trading in either because all the copies are broken anyway. How are they going to fix this? Is it a disc issue? Can they repair all the discs online?

It's more than likely due to their choice and/or implementation of the copy protection. That would be my best guess.

RE: Patch on monday?
I guess that's why Kalypso is delaying the disc fix. They know it will be a disaster if customers will detect that their hot fixed game is still full of bugs. My bet is that Kalypso is waiting for a gameplay patch from .dat and will combine it with the disc fix.

Seems .dat isn't ready yet -> delay of the hotfix. Nice theory, isn't it ?

Who cares? Pretty much every game releases with bugs. While it may be an unusual amount, I'd rather play my game instead of sitting around waiting for a patch before I can even start it.

Thi is rediculous, I paid full price for Disciples III and there it sits in the box. Due to their error which should've been fixed by day 1, thousands of people have the original disc not found error. As customers, we have a right to at least now their progress, and be compensated for our time and shipping fees..... This is a great example of quality and the good of the consumer not being at the top of Kalypsos list.

Unfortunately the only right you reserve is to be smart about buying their product next time.

Well, it's going to be a bunch of trouble to return mine. I don't have the time to fight with Amazon about this. I have to give them this, I've pretty much been a total, jerk-troll about this and they haven't banned me. So I guess they don't mind some venting. Really though, where is the fix? I don't care about the bugs. I'll be glad to play it and report the bugs. I do some programming and I know how it goes.

RE: Patch on monday?
it would be good to see how many people have tried their non working cd's on other machines. I am running a rubbish 32-bit version of windows 7 and i am unable to detect the game and have the same problems as you guys. I then put the cd into my brothers laptop which is running a 64-bit vista and it works perfectly. Sounds like another amazing windows 7 issue that will be resolved in about a years time

That assumes he's using an NA copy. Just to double check, you are using an NA copy, right, Djinn?

If that's the case, does anyone else have 64-bit vista that can confirm?

RE: Patch on monday?
Mine is a UK copy,

May be odd but ive managed to also get it to work on my main computer that it did not work on originally, tried like 6-7 times today with no joy i then changed my auto-play options so that windows opens the cd folder rather than tries to autoplay whatever is on it and when i then put the cd back in the computer opened the cd file where i was then able to click on the steup file and install the game.

so basically 'control panel - Hardware and sound - Auto play, then set 'software and games' to 'open folder to view files using windows explorer'

knowing me i was just lucky and this will be no help to any of you but i hope you guys get it working soon

I've tried it on a 32 bit copy of XP and Windows 7. I've also tried it on 64 bit Windows 7. I've tested it on an AMD based computer, my I-7 gaming laptop, and even on my iMac running windows Vista/Win 7. No luck on any of those. I have a NA copy.
