I'm just curious if anybody actually has a legit North American version that works out of the box.

Since there are over 3k views on the other thread and I had to special order mine (since the local gamestop didn't get any copies in) I wouldn't be surprised if they were all borked.

Does it matter? Its going to be fixed for monday, so that means the developers know about it, and wants the customers to be happy. I see no point of starting a new thread about the issue either since there already are like 5 threads about the same thing.

It does matter, since I am not going to recommend buying a physical copy to my friends this weekend unless there is an outlet that didn't get 'bad discs.'

If all the discs are bad because of the DRM I would say that is newsworthy too. I don't doubt Kalypso wants lots of happy customers, but blaming the disc manufacturers may be inaccurate.

No problems with UK version, only US has the disc issue.

To address the point which War-Neck made "does it matter" I think it does. I went to gamestop on the 14th and they didn't get any copies of D3 in - but I very well could have bought a copy had they gotten the shipment. I'd be curious to know, if its all of the the NA copies or what %, just from my own stance of I could have almost been in this situation. Since no one has posted here saying that they got a copy from the 13th onwards that is free of this issue, its a bit suspect.

Let me say I am really rooting for the devs here. I made a thread here offering ways to help them better connect to the community. I want this game to succeed. I know alot of people are very angry about it (and they have a right to be if they can't play the game) but I think they are posting things which in anger are some things I wouldn't choose to say, but then again I don't have their disc error (waiting for gamestop to get it in)

I do agree and would like to say that I am sure we all believe this game to be that diamond in the rough. Would we be on this forum day after day otherwise? I want D3 to be what I hoped for when I first saw the screenshots. The consumers do have the right to be angry though.

I have to say in all the years of buying pc games this is the worst situation on the N. American disc fiasco. Also why is it taking till Monday to fix? The game has been out since Wednesday of this week in the USA. Also their was a post by a fellow user earlier today with a link to a hot fix sent to him by the company that fixed this situation. Now, the post cannot be found anywhere. I have had every iteration of this game over the years and never had such a bad experience. Here I am a customer who paid for the game, and hackers are playing it before I am.

No, my copy isn't working either . Look I don't have a problem with DRM's on the whole BUT if your going to use one you have to test it and make sure it working properly before the game is released. The PC gaming world is being destroyed by piracy. Customer who pay for and support PC gaming just shake there heads and either crack a game or move on to other platforms. Just check your local Best Buy store there are aisles and aisles of xbox and ps3 games. Sad to say I went the former route so that the game no longer looks for the DVD and just loads. Just another sad day in the PC world. Maybe I need to give it up and get a PS3 and say the hell with it.

P.S. It does matter FB those threads you mentioned are now locked. Putting a thumb in the dike is not going to stop a flood.

My copy doesn't work either. Bought mine from Amazon. Got it yesterday. Disappointed with the situation but I'll get over it as long as they do get the fix up reasonably quick.

I did not defend the developers, they did make a huge failure, but IT CAN and WILL be fixed. I guess I am happy I didnt but the North American edition. BUT my point were, the developers know of the bug and is giving you a fix (at least what they have stated). So its no need to nag about it (unless they take more time than promised).
Its very possible each and every one of North American editions are "bugged" but its going to be fixed, end of story.

No, I want to play the game that I paid for now.....I am giving them till Monday....Other fixes can come later. Clayman are you able to play the game now?

Yes, I can play the game, but I have the UK version.

My cool story about waiting: I played Empire and Legions campaign in the Russian version, but decided to wait two weeks so I could play Elven campaign in the official English release, with less bugs than Russian version. I think it was worth the waiting.

For those of you say it does not matter it will be fixed Monday. I have this to say yes it does matter as they have staed that only a handful of disc were affected. If noone in NA has gotten a good disc then I would say that is more than a handful so can we really except the answer that it will be fixed Monday? On top of that if you really say it does not matter do you as a consumer really feel that is ok that the purcahse process is also part of the testing process as well?

To answer your last question...
Actually I do not mind since all I am looking for is a perfect made game. This game is far from finished but will be because of me and other people stating bugs. I really have been looking for a good turn based strategy game for a while, and this game fits the description. As long as the game eventually will be more or less "perfect" I am fine with playing it with flaws.
If a individual gives up on the game to early, well then its their decision adn their LOSS (in the end). But me personally dont mind it (as soon as final product is "perfect"). Patience is a virtue (or whatever they say)

I dont understand why some people are trying to defend the company. A lot of us who are complaining about issues might even be more of a "fan" of the series than you guys imagine. When we buy a game hoping to enjoy it over the weekend, but can't because the game won't even launch, that is serious. The original poster's question matters, we are trying to figure out if anyone with the NA version actually got their games to work. This might not be a simple case where only a few of us are affected, and thats why it matters to ask. Whether or not a patch is coming out on Monday is not related to frustrated buyers who just want to ask.

And yes - I have the NA ver with the no original disc problem as well

I could agree with you if I could actually play the game and report bugs and have them get fixed. But a game that does not even launch that is not a bug in my mind. And from what I can tell is that no one in N.A. has a playable game. That could have been avoided with the smallest amount of quality control. Remember this game has already launched in Russia 6 months to one year ago if I am not mistaken

I agree, I had the very first version of Disciples. For kicks I pulled out the game today. I also have had all the multiple releases of versions following that. So you could say i am a avid fan of the game itself. However, I am not a fan of poor product and customer service. The fact that I have never bought a PC game in 30 years that ever had as big a problem as this "no original disc" error. This error is to be considered a product killer in the gaming world. I have never heard of a game on such a wide scale of not even being able to be started as this. Also, why should we wait for them to patch other bugs? In the mean time we cannot even play the game at all. How long should we wait? 6 days (which will be monday) 2 weeks? 3 Weeks?. The fact is that the company dropped the ball big time and keeps doing so.

Glad I didn't recommend the disc version to anyone. In fact I advised one of my buds to cancel his gamestop preorder and just get it on steam. I did enjoy playing it via a crack this weekend though, for what it is worth.

Are you playing the Steam version now? Did you have any problems launching and playing the game?

Also bought the NA disc. Not working either, unfortunately. more than likely no one's is working.

I thank you very much for that info.... I am thinking about taking my game back to GameStop tomorrow and have them put the money on Star Craft 2 and then possibly purchase the Steam version of this game

The Steam version works. If you really want the game badly enough then it might be the easiest solution to buy it from Steam.

I spent 12 hours playing Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon. Having had no experience with Disciples before, or even with Kings Bounty, I was pretty much gobsmacked by the game.

The gameplay kind of reminds me of the Total War games, in that it's really all about building up your battle groups so that they outnumber and outclass your opponent's groups when engaging them in fights. Easier said than done, of course. There are so many difficult decisions to make - should I create two armies, or just focus on the one; should I add another archer to my group or should I purchase a healer; etc. etc.

I hope the developer solves the problem - but yeah, the Steam version is working.
