Thank You for X360 version!!
i just wanted to Sincerely Thank Kalypso (and Gaming Minds!) for bring a space / spaceship / action / adventure game to the X360. i was incredibly stoked when i heard about it and pre-ordered it straight away; funny that i couldn't find it on Amazon, had to go to "The Empire of GameStop - Online".

this genre is by Far my favorite; Privateer 2: The Darkening was the game of this kind i played WAAAAY back when that got me hooked and i've loved this type of game since. Tachyon: The Fringe and Freelancer are also Big favorites. but there's been, i think, ONE gameof this kind on the X360, Project Sylpheed, and it was terrible.

given, this is an 'old' game ported over. but then, i'm an 'old' gamer (36yrs) that was 'ported over' from PC gaming (FED UP w/ DRM b.s.). and even tho it's a port, in my opinion its a Dang good one. i dunno if the porting process was inherently easy for this game or if Everyone at Kalypso & Gaming Minds just Really worked their butts off, but it seems like the only "buggy-ness" the game has is probably inherent from its PC days.

anyway, Truly- a Very Sincere THANK YOU! even tho its age is showing, this is Still a really fun game and i'm Really grateful that someone took the risk of putting in the money, time, & effort to bring this kind of game to the X360. and if i can get greedy for a moment: Please keep 'em coming, ala a brand new 'from the ground up for the X360" spaceship game / franchise. i'll be there on Day 1 again.

take it easy.

If your on twitter you should thank him, so after his reccomendations I raced to the store yesterday, I had a devil of a job getting it as they had all ordered a few copys and sold out straight away.

Sigh you think they would order more, there is stock at shopto.net if your in the UK and looking for this game and its at a good price too.

Excellent game guys such a memory lane trip for me to wing commander days and I find myself saying very geeky lines from starwars and topgun Big Grin
I will write you guys a review and article next week on my sites.

I would also like to add my thanks for the game. I love these types of games but since migrating from gaming on the PC to mainly gaming on consoles a few years ago there hasn't been anything to whet my spacefaring appetite.

I would love it if you guys managed to introduce some DLC. A multiplayer dogfight mode in a single system would be awesome and expand the longlivity of the title once I've finished the single player game.

Kindest regards

Christian

RE: Thank You for X360 version!!
Kalypso,

I want to thank your company for taking the time and effort of porting this game from the PC to the XBOX 360. I honestly think everyone there should pat yourselves on the the back.

When I got my first PC back 15 years ago; (oh yeah, I'm old school) it was a 200 Mhz, 32 MB of memory, a 4 MB video card, 40 Gigs of hard drive and a Windows 95 disc. Actual cost was $4500. But I made a wheel and deal for $2500. I thought i was the man. After installing Windows 95, I notice that were a few games that were included. One of them was a game called Hellbender. One of the first for the PC. You were the pilot of a space ship that jump from planet to planet and space fighting to save the universe. that game had me hooked. I've also played Desent and the Freespace series as well as a couple of others. Even played online when the multiplayer universe first started. These were the only type games i would spend $60 on to get. And that was a lot a decade ago. I could play those games for days never knowing when it would end. And when it did, I was begging for more. These days I play games like Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation and Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. for thrills of flight.

I though the days of save the universe games gave way to games of current events. But when I heard that DarkStar One: Broken Alliance for the XBOX 360 was out, my heart started to beat like I was about get a damn Porsche 911. For Free. I didn't care what the reviews had to say. I WANTED THAT GAME! I got it secondhand from the one of the game stores last week and started playing Friday night. Didn't even have a manual with it. Good thing I had the week off. I would have had to call in or something. I mean that for real. Played it an average of 18 hours a day. I love the story line and the fact that you didn't have to stay on it. DarkStar One: Broken Alliance allowed me to go where I wanted. That's what so entertaining about it. You could follow the any path you wanted and still reach the same climax in the end. I thought I had the story figured out from beginning to end and you through me for a loop. Didn't know who was the the good guys or the bad guys were.
"Can't read a book by its cover" stood true. I wanted to hunt Jack down and shoot him with a Big Bang as he tried to flee! Very well planned. As far as I am concerned, there better a whole series planned on this story. You got something here. I plan on becoming shareholder in you company.

Thank you very much.
