patch in 3 to 5 days
Quote:We apologize for this problem, and are already working hard on a patch which will not only solve this (disk) error, but also fix some smaller performance, balancing and gameplay issues.

I hope you will also fix the big glaring bugs like completly broken hotseat game for example.

Your words sound like the game has only small problems apart from the disk bug but this is not true.

I'm sure they're very much aware, but I doubt they're able to fix those fixes in along with this patch. At least that's what I'm hoping Rolleyes

I have biggest doubts about the level of their awareness considering the poor state in which the game was released.

RE: patch in 3 to 5 days
Problem is, it´s highly probably not them who does the bug-fixing (except maybe for the DVD recognition thing) but the Russian developer .dat, so I assume they are pretty much dependent on those guys.
My guess is that the patch that will come in a few days (again except for the DVD thingy) was originally intended to be ready and part of the initial launch outside of Russia already but .dat/akella did not deliver in time. Just my thoughts though.
Let´s just wait and see what the upcoming patch will bring and what the status will be like when the Undead add-on is released. Until then I won´t give up hope that we finally get a Disciples 3 at its best... Smile

We as well as the developers are aware of the problems Disciples 3 is suffering from. Be ensured, that we all are doing our best to optimise the game as soon and as best as possible.

RE: patch in 3 to 5 days
Thanks, good to hear. Will the big glaring problems already be fixed with the '3-5 days' patch or will it take more time ? What makes me a little nervous is that you guys at Kalypso are talking about ' some smaller performance, balancing and gameplay issues' or about ' to optimise the game' and I'm talking about the big bugs stated in the bugs/problems thread.

The developers have a close look at the bugs and problems thread and are trying to fix any reported problem / bug.

Why not just wait and see what will be listed in the "Bugs fixed" section of the patch announcement/description and what the forum members report when it´s done?
I mean, how on earth should the forum administrators right now be able to state exactly or even guarantee what bugs the guys at .dat will have squashed at the end of the 3-5 days period given?
Patience is a virtue.
Best don´t ever think about getting nervous because of a PC game/program that doesn´t function perfectly at the moment... Wink

I know multiple earthly means to transport this kind of information in a short amount of time between two parties which do business. Doves aren't necessary any longer. Tongue

PS: I coded a game and worked with a publisher (Matrixgames) so I know a small bit about this subject.

I wasn´t exactly referring to means of communication but rather to my guess that the guys at .dat are currently still working on the patch so that at this very moment really nobody can know in detail or can guarantee what exactly we will get in the end in 3-5 days. Wink

But as you seem to have ample experience with such things, what do you think?
Is the whole patch coding and testing already done and completed and only more or less administrative things need to be done before it is released so that Kalypso would only need to send a request to .dat for a comprehensive patch description which they could then present here in full or in part?

That's good to hear. But next time I would suggest Kalypso to respond faster to the user when it's promised that there would be a quick hotfix on Monday.

RE: patch in 3 to 5 days
I'm playing the Steam version and so far I haven't noticed any bugs. What I have noticed is how much damned time I'm spending on this title.

I buy a LOT of programs, and these days I rarely spend more than 20 hours on them. I'm already approaching the ten hour mark. I just bought the game on Saturday.

I am also playing the Steam version in campaign mode and have not seen any bugs either.... The game plays very smooth with a constant 60 FPS with all video options turned on and set to max ... So far I am very happy with the way this game runs on my system. Thank-you .dat!!

Edit: Ok I hate that I have to edit something I said above about how the game is running on my computer.... I am having problem with slowing down to a crawl..... Everytime I load it up it plays great! Then after a short while ther FPS starts becoming unstable going way up and way down.....and then a litte later every thing slows to a crawl and I have to quit..... :-( I am enjoying this game but this really does make the the veeeeeeeeeery long. :-(

Regarding a 3-5 day deadline at least all coding should be done. The buglist is big and I'm sure they only tried to fix the most obvious which can be validated with minor testing.

But considering the broken state of the release it seems that the quality assurance departement is nearly non existant, both at .dat and Kalypso.

Let us hope they will improve.

I think it completely depends on the way you play. Considering games like HoMM and Disciples, I am the kind of player who enjoys to explore every single spot on each map. I fight each battle even if my hero cannot level up any further on the map.

I am currently playing the 4th map of the Empire campaign. According to Steam I have already spent about 18 hours with Disciples III so far, and I only played the campaign. It looks like it takes me more than 4 hours to finish one map. According to this, by the end of the game my play time will be at least 72 hours for all three campaigns.

This is not what I call a short campaign. Smile

I've seen some pretty bad launches, but I have never seen this. I can't even play the game. It doesn't even get past drm...

I think you guys should at least get the game launchable asap before you worry about other bug fixes.

Did you read the sticky about this problem at the top of the forum? You should follow their instructions about sending an email to Kalypso support....It will be worth your while....Big Grin

No, definitely don't flood them. It took them roughly 3 days to respond to mine.

Metroplex, Didn't the Jedi get slaughtered in Episode 3...just saying...
I have followed the tread for a week now, I am sorry I am one of those with a Disc Error issue. With the list of mounting issues with the game. I don't see them fixing all of it in 5 days.
