Thinking of getting this... A few questions
Hello

I am very interested in this game. I actually bought Grand Ages Rome from Gamers Gate a few weeks ago. However I was dissapointed to find out that there is no skirmish or battles in Free play... or so I have heard. Can you in Imperium Romanum?

It also looks like Imeperium Romanum has more scope when you include the expansions, with graphics almost on par... Would that be correct?

Or am I wasting my money and should rather get the Augustus expansion instead?

The other thing is if I do decide to get it (when I hear what you all have to say) I was looking on Steam, but they don't seem to have the add-ons for the game?

Please advise.
G

RE: Thinking of getting this... A few questions
I've only played through the tutorials and the first 6 or so missions of the first scenario pack. I don't know of armies invade from off panel or if it's just local barbarian tribes - not enough play time to tell you.

I will say it's like Caesar IV, and the city building games from "Impression", but with just a few changes, mostly in the U.I (user interface). Also labor is localized, unlike the 'Impression' games, where houses have to be within 'radius' of the work building. They are also gender specific, so you have to balance households.

Also over time, houses change residencies - one might become 'old' and not work, another might not have a spouse (so only 1 man or 1 woman in the house). The number of free settlers (who which to immigrate to your city) determine if households are more or less steady in the 1 man, 1 woman (+1 kid/senior sometimes)

Anyway the game also uses slave labor (instead of cart pushers) to move things around the city, so you sometimes have to build more slave shelters (or upgrade the forum).

I guess it's worth a peak. You can buy it right now off of "Impulse" for $2.50, and on "Steam" for either $5 or $10.
