I am playing a Generalissimo. So I have martial law going. Guess what? The students decided to go on strike.

My question is how do I fix this?

I am not really experienced but did you consider changing your play style ?

Wait, students can go on strike? Didn't think anybody but dockworkers and miners could do that...

That's the problem. I am playing like a dictator, and my hand is tied.

It was a real problem. I need high school graduates for the army. And they did not want to graduate. So, my troops died in battle against the rebels. And the only way I could get more troops was to import high school graduates. But I did not have the money. So my army keeped shrinking.

I did not want to change my game play because I was playing an evil dictator.

Even as an oppressor, you do not need Martial Law. Martial Law imho is a way to bypass elections that you can't win, not something that you should constantly use.

A big army will more than suffice.

I find that this is a problem. What do you think would happen if say a bunch of German students told Hitler that they will not graduate unless he changes the government. Or Idi Amin, Fidel Castro, North Koreans etc etc . . .

Okay, if that is part of the game mechanics, fine. Then I should have the ability to deal with this situation without having to change the government. I tried arresting all of the students and it did not help.

In times like these just as all great leaders do, you must bend to the will of the people. If you bend now, you can opress later when the external threat has been dealt with.
