Gameplay Questions
Hello,
I just purchased this game on steam and i have some question relating to gameplay.
1. Is there a way to track if your loosing a product or gaining it? For instance lumber. Is there an effective way to know if i have enough to meet the needs of my town? All i can think to do is to stare at the current stockpiled quantity for about 30 seconds to see if its going up or down. I hope that there is a better way, such as a indicator such as 20 in stockpile and plus +0.5, meaning every tick its measuring your losses versus your gain and giving you a idea of what to expect. I find myself being blindsided with low essential resources.
2. How does one put out fires?
3. For slave markets, it seem you start out with a certain amount of slaves and can build a corresponding income of slaves. How does one get more? How many buildings can one slave camp support?
4.Is it possible to spread around the production of fishing piers, or do they only support their local areas?
5. Farmers Markets only supply raw pork and wheat and not sausage and bread, correct? Does that mean that putting a bakery next to a farmers market would actually supply three different food resources? Do houses directly near pig farms or wheat fields directly receive those products or do i have to build a farmers market near by even though its the same food type?
6. How can i check if my food production facilities are producing enough before it becomes and issue?
Thank you, these are all my questions for now.

Click on any building that needs lumber. On the bottom of the screen you will see overall stats of production, consumption, and bonuses.
In general start your city by building two lumber camps, two brickworks, and a stone quarry (plus the requisite housing or slave camp) and add more of each as needed. Adding a centrally located prefecture reduces the materials consumption of all buildings considerably.
See the video Food and Entertainment Satisfaction Part 1 for an example of how to start a city.
2. How does one put out fires?
Avoid them in the first place by not having crime. Keep you insulae fed, your equites fed, entertained, and with goods and your patricians near temples. Prefectures do put out fires but rather poorly. If I do get a fire I usually delete the building before the fire spreads.
3. For slave markets, it seem you start out with a certain amount of slaves and can build a corresponding income of slaves. How does one get more? How many buildings can one slave camp support?
You can trade for slaves, get them by razing barbarian villages or with the expansion pack purchase them with authority and denarii.
4.Is it possible to spread around the production of fishing piers, or do they only support their local areas?
No, unfortunately fishing piers only provide food within their radius.
Yes, placing a farmer's market, butcher's shop, and bakery would produce additive food satisfaction for nearby housing. Placing an inn and tavern would produce two more additions.
6. How can i check if my food production facilities are producing enough before it becomes and issue?
Flow resources do not have the idea of "enough". If you have a staffed food source that has all its supplies, you have food to supply every house within that food source's radius of effect.
Thank you, these are all my questions for now.
