Kalypso’s “DUNGEONS” Celebrates Going Gold with Theme Song Release

Bracknell, UK – 7th January 2011. Kalypso Media is pleased to announce that their humorous strategy game, DUNGEONS, has gone gold today! To celebrate this epic moment, Kalypso has released the game’s theme song as a downloadable mp3 for fans to enjoy as they await the game’s arrival in retail stores.

DUNGEONS, which is set for release on 4th February in the UK on Windows PC, lets players show off their dark sides, as, in the role of a Dungeon Lord, they do their best to entice foolish heroes into custom-crafted dungeons. Once an adventurer enters the player’s creation, the fun really begins as players will attempt to capture those heroes and steal their precious soul energy and use it to build even more elaborate and sinister dungeons while fighting against intruding bosses.

DUNGEONS follows the misadventures of the foremost of all Dungeon Lords, who spends his time luring heroes into his labyrinthine creations with the promise of treasure and a good fight -- only to be trapped by his ingenious devices.

In DUNGEONS, our protagonist falls victim to a devious plot hatched by his vile, nasty and thoroughly vicious ex-girlfriend and finds himself at the bottom of the underworld hierarchy and the top of the dungeon pile. In his world, that is about as bad as it can get. Our lord must have his revenge, and make his way back down the dungeon levels to his rightful place -- but first he must deal with his new bosses, the three despicable Dungeon Lords who stand in his way.

At his disposal are his dim-witted goblin minions who dig tunnels and build rooms to lay out his lair and trap ever stronger and braver heroes who dare to enter, not forgetting to plot his revenge against his ex-girlfriend and his new bosses who think its great fun to bombard him with useless tasks. It goes without saying that a malicious and sneaky creature such as our Dungeon Lord has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. Revenge will be sweet indeed.

Totally cool. Thank you for this snibbit of entertainment while waiting for Dungeons to be released. Although... If Dungeons is coming out in the UK on the 4th of Feb, when is it going to be released in the US?

Very nice. Thanks for the release.

It's definitely good for theme music. Sets the tone pretty well.

Can't believe release day is less than a month away. Can't wait! Smile

Does that mean it will be released February 8th on Steam also? Steam right now shows a release date of February 10th so it this a mistake or is steam releasing two days later?

I'm hoping for the official 4th release date. The release dates on different sites vary quite a bit (play was showing as the 28th Feb this morning but have since changed it to the 4th Feb)

It's possible Steam simply haven't updated to the official date on their store page yet.

I hope so, otherwise ill be buying it in store rather than steam, and I like steam a lot. Oh well, I just want to preorder it somewhere already so I know im good.

Well that is certainly good news! Guess that means beta is pretty much done with or are more invites (English ones) to be expected?

Looking forward to next month for sure.

Thanks for the confirmation. Is there any word as to when the impulse release will be? I noticed they aren't even listing the game yet.

If it's going to be the same I'll just pre-order it on play.com later.

GamersGate has it already listed, also a Feb 10 release.
However, it says it's 45 euro. Wasn't it stated it would be 40 euro, somewhere?

So when do the Continental Europe get the game?? same as UK or same as Germany??

I ask because i can play the game in german if i have to, and the Danish/German Border is only 40min(Flensborg) away..

Edit:

Going Gold means, that the final Distribution CD/DVD is made, acctually its a mould to create all other Copies of the disc's, and as there is two versions of the game, I.e. English and German there is 2 disc's..

I know because i used to work for SDC Dandisk(Sakskøbing), so i have 28 Discontinued Gold Disc's at home, they do look nice on my wall, could use 2 more tho..
(and i do have a 27th birthday coming up on the 29th, if anybody feels like giving a NICE(One of a kind) gift)..

Thanks for the replies. Usually whenever I think of something going gold its games are being sold with add ons or expansion packs.

Yeah gold editions tend to be compilations of the highest released version of the game (at the time) plus expansion packs/add-ons for it

Going gold means it's finalised and out to production Smile

Well..

They could maby cut time by a few(Max 5) days.
but that would mean to rush the production of the Disc's, wich could/can lead to corrupted gamedata..

I don't want this game a few days early, if it means i cant play it..
