Question One question for the Mods.
First and foremost, sorry if this breaks any rules, that's not the intent.

okay, I admit it, I played the hell out of the demo, well, except for survival mode, it seemed completely uninteresting and a little nerve wracking. I bought the game on the 17th of January via steam, like Evil Genius I can't get enough and I feel like a rabid Fangirl, waiting for my next dose of Crack.*

Why oh Why, couldn't you do a simultaneous launch? Why did you make the U.S. Population wait an extra week, or is it two? I know the U.K. users have it already. Lucky guys and gals. Not only were you the birth place of the Legendary Beatles, you got the game before us. Tongue

Really, I just want to know the decision point on making us wait, I'm not angry, frustrated, annoyed, and counting down the hours like this was new years...but not angry, I just want to know. Can anyone tell me, or is it all hush, hush, for some reason. Maybe some kind of Licensing deal, for some obscure reason?

* I don't do drugs, unless you count Evil Genius...playing a game for approximately 61 hours, in the first 72, since I got it, yeah something is going on there that I assume is like an addict-relationship.

They did this so they could squeeze more soul energy out of us. Great demo Dungeon Lords now I'll return to my cell awaiting my turn.

I think we can consider this thread "resolved". Big Grin I really like that answer anyway!~

We also had to wait for the game, it was released in Germany back in January.

Its worth the wait thats for sure Smile and you'll get the added benefits of the latest patches and the stability problems that were in the first version of the game having been solved.

Another question, do we ever find out what the plot our antagonistic-protagonist fell for when Calypso-who, as an aside, if I remember is the Greek goddess/demigoddess of discord. As well as a homophone for a well known game publisher-tricked him into losing his place?

and Knoxx, probably true, but still bad form, if that was the Only reason.

RE: One question for the Mods.
Compare it to the way it normally goes Jasmine.

Americans tend to get major international releases first. Sometimes by a few hours, sometimes by a few days and sometimes by a few weeks.

Realmforge is a German developer, and Kalypso has a lot of interest in the European market. It's not different than an American developer releasing the game in America two weeks early in retail, slowly migrating on to Steam (which is also based in North America) while they do localization for other countries and get ready to ship it retail there.

Am I about freaking tired of waiting? Of course I am. I pre-ordered on Steam because I thought getting it digitally would save me time. It's not "bad form" though. It's prudent to NOT release a game internationally in all markets at the same time unless you have a large enough team and infrastructure to deal with it. Realmforge is a pretty small dev team, and Kalypso is not EA.

Regardless of how completely done I am waiting (hell, I was _this_ close to pirating a copy just so I could freaking play), I think Kalypso/Realmforge did the smart thing by breaking up the releases...and if they chose to honor their German customers first, well, welcome to when you don't get your way as a American.

AFAIK pirated versions are still running 1.0

I guess, it's better to wait for your copy and go directly to 1.2

Oh and just take a look at the Forums. Every release generated a lot of new posts due to bugs, requests, suggestions, ...

Doing a worldwide release and answering / managing all incoming posts would be simply impossible for Kalypso and Realmforge.

That's what kept me from doing it. Didn't want to spoil my first real play through with a 1.0 version.

RE: One question for the Mods.
Thanks for an answer Chris. I suppose that makes a lot of sense now that I think about it, I just was always so curious about it. Interestingly enough Steam already gave me my CD-Key, but not the game. I suppose technically I could use the Key on a Pirated version to update, but with Six hours left, and a intense need for sleep... I figure it's best just to wait it out at this point.
