challenge editor?
im wondering if this is planned for t4, or perhaps an expansion or later download?

If soo, I really hope there is a little better documentation on its use, and what the functions do., Or a way to open campain missions to veiw scripts to see who they work.

I found the orginal campain challenge editor nearly impossible to figure out as everything is basically just shooting in the dark. I basically gave up after a couple of weeks of trying with no luck at all.

trying to replicate a campain mission for me was basically impossible as i had zero clue who to make any of the policatly unstable aspecs function correctly.

Today, in respond to my comment on the German PC Games magazine podcast about T4, both Timo and Admin confirmed that T4 will have an editor, which includes topographic alteration of islands, pre-placement of buildings and an improved handling of the event system:

That is excellent news.

I hope you don't become irritated when I ask (another poster does) if "pre-placement of buildings" means more explicitly that the editor will allow placement of the start-up buildings as the player chooses? Will the player also have some choice about the start-up population of units\people?

RE: challenge editor?
thats great to know..

But i really really hope they give us some documentation on how to use this thing this time, or atleast let us veiw the campains they made so we can see how things work behind the sceans..

trying to get an island working was next to impossible from my experiances.. sure i could tell a story, but all the population manipulation was completely lost to me.

Considering there will be a complete overhaul of the interface and the tutorial system (MUCH more in-depth tutorials, supposedly)...I think it's safe to say that Challenges will get considerably more explanation and help.

My personal hope is that the whole "online" aspect of Tropico 4 gets a shot in the arm (some form of Multiplayer, please!), so any boosts to the Challenge aspect of the game are highly welcome.

RE: challenge editor?
i wouldnt count on it maximo, game companies are natorious for leaving out documentation on how to use builders.. I can count on one hand the number that have decent documentation.

that said, Most of them allow you to look at the single player game files so you can decifer how things are done..

But, I really hope kalypso takes the next step and gives us something to help us. i found i got so frustrated with the first challenge creator that i bagged it after a couple weeks when i couldnt get anything working right..

like trying to get protests started, droping liberty, getting protests to start after picking an option.

Please, get one of the devs to take a few days and give us a decent write of up what we can do, and how to do it..
