the financial background of Blizzard is very easy...its called WoW, which gives them a fix income every month.
Of course it gives Blizzard the possibility to publish games "when they are done" And the customers believe in that und will buy more copies of there games.
But i also think, that the production costs of D3 for example are that high, that they won't be covered within the first two weeks after release (which is the main selling frame!). But caused by the standing Blizzard has got, they will sell copies for high prices at a longer distance. Something that will not happen to every other game...
