RE: News and Information
Woah - gone for a few days and I see some aquatic goodness on the map. Will be interesting to see how they do it.

I see some new shadow textures on the map too. Nicely done shaders with the setting sun of dusk.

Still no word of AI and bug fixes though. I wish they'd make a comment. It's like they aren't planning on addressing that stuff..

New questions and answers:
http://disciples3.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=7413&page=2

I don't know russian, and I won't risk google translation which is a bit faulty, but I have some english answers to questions I stated:

Quote:. Qumi: Will the Map Editor be updated as well? For example for dialogues you won't need to create separate files, etc.

[Yes, "Rebirth: Disciples 3" will conclude new editor with all new content, new characters, new script interface, etc.]

Qumi: Will some new types of equipment reappear in the Rebirth or Mountain Clans addon? For example: tomes, staffs (cast a spell), banners, etc.

[Yes, they will. The system of equipment is totaly rebuilding now. Look for new types.]

Qumi: Will Lord Portraits reappear as well? Now every race has only one portrait, whereas in previous games there were plenty to choose from.

No, but we've got some new ideas, but we can't speak about it for this moment.]

Glad to see the editor is getting some upgrades too. It is in need. Especially in the scripting side.

Yea nice that they keep at it. Only when do we get one for the Europe/NA editions? Europe/NA always gets left out of the loop. Russia and Poland will have 2 versions of the map editor before we even have 1. Tongue

RE: News and Information
Hmm, amazon.de and amazon.co.uk have now listed Resurrection for 6th resp. 7th October.

M&M:H6 will be released on 13th October.

Not too bad, Resurrection campaign should be feasible in 1 week. Fantasy TBS Goodness in spades (playing around with the H6 demo right now, it`s good fun)

Maybe it would make sense to skip Resurrection and wait for Rebirth but I am afraid I'm just not a rational person when it comes to Disciples... Smile

RE: News and Information
I'm taking a stab in the dark, but its likely they are still using the thief as a main leader type. That limits what they can do, cause in D2, if a thief failed tasks, like steal from a shop or poison city, it was eliminated. But then they made the thief a leader with a party, and they lost that dynamic.

They should have never made the thief as a party leader, it isn't needed for that and is too similar to the melee leader. I get the feeling that none of the devs ever even played D2.

RE: News and Information
I think the absence of the stealing mechanic is more tied to the fact that some items have become very valuable. Stealing something from a shop was not such a big deal in D2, when the best thing you could get was an artifact that added paralyze or lvl steal or something similar to that. Such items were powerful no doubt and added their own very unique effects but not as powerful when compared to D3. In D3 you could theoretically steal items that you'd need like 30 turns to save enough gold for which give huge bonuses. I mean take for example the best guardian bow which gives +21 Strength +15 Dexterity +7 Initiative. Just to get +21 strength, the leader would otherwise have to level up 7 times (not counting the passive +2 stat skills which can be taken)! +15 dexterity is another 5 levelups. Statwise stealing equipment can make a level one leader equivalent to a level 13 leader in a matter of one turn which is just too much. Such a hero could suddenly own the initial low level packs, levelling himself and his party up quickly while another player would have to move through the map much slower, spending his money on potions, resurrection and healing. It's too much of an advantage to get, especially if there is a shop nearby early on. Personally I find the thief as a challenging choice compared to the warrior leaders because he is much more of a glass cannon while the warrior can just rush headfirst into battle and not worry about health and stuff because he can easily tank a Tier 5 unit for a couple of turns after just a few levels.

RE: News and Information
If they really wanted to though, they could limit what could be stolen to just level 1 items. Already the shop items are assigned various levels depending on how powerful they are. Its possible to limit what level could be stolen just as the items you can win from a dungeon are limited.
It could be limited to just life and revive potions also.

True, true. It actually makes sense...if you are selling extremely expensive weaponry, you are going to keep an eye on the most precious pieces and not just let a guy run in, grab a whole set of your best shoulder guards, chain mail, boots, two helmets, mage staff, sword and a bow and run away with it.

RE: News and Information
Good idea about chance of failure going up as item level scales. I bet you're right too - thieves will stay as leaders. Sad

I do hope they add the Spy skill though. Knowing what was in an enemy party, dungeon or city based on this added depth to the game, with such a simple, elegant and very unique approach. I still don't get why they removed it.

RE: News and Information
I translated those posts above using google but it doesn't translate that well. I could learn Russian though I don't think my brain is spongy enough anymore. So I sort of feel out of the loop a bit. However from what I can understand via the garbled google translation, it sounds like stuff is being fixed to a great extent. I'm encouraged.

Also wasn't able to get on this forum for a long time today, kept getting some SQL error message. I thought I had been banned.... haha
You know how I love to rant sometimes, figure I hit a nerve, but its all good I guess.
