Launcher - Email Address Changed
Is there anyway to change the e-mail address for the launcher? The email address that is associated with the launcher is being closed. Or de-authorise game from the account and move it to a new one?

Dear All:

I've never had so much trouble with a game as I've been having with this one!

First of all, I get a "Wrong Login or Password" which keeps me from further installing the game to I have to set up something with Microsoft Outlook just to communicate with the "friendly guys at Kalypso."

Well, I don't want to see up anything with Microsoft Outlook. I just want to stop getting the runaround and get some proper help getting this game on my computer--even the demo is giving me trouble, and I've got all the requirements.

I've set up an account with this bunch of clowns, and the game still isn't cooperating.

Do all their games behave like this?

I didn't get any answer from any of your so-called "helpful staff." I should be able to sit down in front of my computer, install a game and play it without all this crap.

Patrician IV looked interesting but, if I have to go through the same thing I did with this game, it's staying in the store.

Are you able to send emails at all? An email account is required to register on the forums and for Kalypso Launcher, so I guess you have one. Just open whichever client you use for mailing and type in support@kalypsomedia.com as the recipient, also make sure to describe the problem you are having in the subject and text body.

Please report back here if you need further assistance composing and sending an email.

I use Gmail, but I think you guys have blocked that. I can either use that or my Hotmail--either one.

I told Walt that I keep getting something about Microsoft Outlook. Well, I don't use Outlook. Every time I clicked the email address that was there, that's all I got. I'll probably get it again.

Tell me, do we have to go through the same crap with Patrician IV? If so, you've just lost yourself a customer.

I would really love to help but I don't understand the problem. You have successfully registered on the forums which is pretty much the exact same process for Kalypso Launcher. It is really simple and straightforward, we don't require any personal information from you other than an existing email address to verify your ownership of the game.

This thread is about changing the email address for a registered account, but this can only be done by contacting us at support@kalypsomedia.com - we are not blocking any email accounts on that support address either. If you keep getting error messages from or about Microsoft Outlook, we can really not do anything about that as it seems to be a local problem with your computer or email provider.

Did you try reproducing the steps to send an email I outlined in my earlier reply to you?

The problem is this: Every time I try to put in my address and password, it won't accept it. It keeps giving me the "Wrong login or password" message in these bright red letters. I give it my Gmail account address. It won't take it.
I give it my Hotmail account address. It won't take it.

Now, is there some way I have to configure things so I can start playing this game? Yes, I do know how to send an email, thank you ever so kindly. I was just telling you that two times I clicked on that email address on your support page, that's what I got--Microsoft Outlook.

Is this coming clearer now?

OK, so your problem is entirely unrelated to the topic at hand (which is how to change the registered email address for an existing account), but we'll ignore that for a moment.

First, did you already register a new account (there is a button for that in the Launcher window) and activate it via email (you will be sent a confirmation mail)?

Second, what does "it won't take it" mean? Are you getting an error message when typing in the email address?

Third, the message you are getting when clicking on an email link appears because you seem to not have a default email client program installed. This is perfectly fine and you can ignore it if you are using a web-based service such as Gmail or Hotmail, but then you should be able to just send an email - manually - to support@kalypsomedia.com (without clicking on any links). You will keep getting the same error message on any email link you click on.

I suspect what's happening is that you are getting the "wrong login or password" error simply because you have not yet registered a Kalypso Launcher account. The same thing happens when you try to log in to a forum you have never visited before - your credentials are unknown to the software unless you actually go and register a new forum account.

I'm confident that if we walk this through step by step you will be playing in no time.

Oh, by the by, the Microsoft Outlook thing I was telling you about? That was my bad. You see, my ISP guys installed the 2003 version of Microsoft Office on my computer. I went back into the program and disable Outlook. I have emailed your people, and I should be hearing from them shortly.

As I said, there is a button labeled "register new account" in the Kalypso Launcher window. Just click that and follow the instructions. It's really the same process as the one you've been through registering on these forums.

Please see the attached screenshot of the Launcher window.

The next screen opens the registration dialog where you enter a valid email address and choose your password. After submitting that you will be sent an email containing a link to activate your account. Following this, you will be able to log in via the default Launcher window.

I've found the buttons, but I don't think they're really of much use to me for I can see the slim top edges of the buttons for the page doesn't go down far enough. I have the page with changelog and the lovely background, the boxes to fill in email address and password, but that's as far as it goes.

Tell me, is there a way to stretch the box so I can use the buttons?

What's your screen resolution? If the Launcher window doesn't fit your screen, chances are your system won't meet the game's requirements to begin with. Try to run at least 1024x768 pixels and the Launcher window should display fine. Unfortunately, there is no way to resize the window.

Well, since no ACTUAL data is known, I will just have to send the game to file 13. My screen size has never been a problem with other games, so I am forced to assume that Whatever is going on now is bovine manure. The game will not even post its title on-screen. So, it is of course, in some mysterious way, MY FAULT. (???)Sad

My monitor's resolution is 1440x900. All my other games work just fine with this resolution.

My monitor's recommended resolution didn't show the full window. All it had was the changelog and the boxes where I was supposed to put my email address and my password that's as far as it went and, like I said, it worked like a charm.

One last question: Do I have to sign in every time I want to play the game?

Yes, but the login information will be saved so you can just click "log in" after the initial launch. That is, unless you are not online, then the game will just start in offline mode with the online portion disabled, of course.
