Question Juanito: Funny or annoying ?
I find his vioce extremely annoying and not to mention that he repeats same lines in each game. Gets kinda boring. But that is only my opinion.

Discuss.

Both. He was funny at first but after you hear nearly everything he has to say 300 times you get tired of him.

Am I the only one who plays with the radio sound turned off? I had to, when I first started playing this game the soundtrack music got stuck in my head, literally for days after I stopped playing I still had the music bouncing around between my ears. When I came back to the game I turned the radio volume off. I still hear the DJ's when they talk in the game, but no music. It also has no music or sound during the splash screen and startup videos.

I definitely prefer Juanito over Betty, but I have the radio turned off in game. Mostly because of Betty, though.

I like Juanito, absolute loyalty is a-ok for me, unfortunatly i have to kill him because of Betty Boom, i hated her, i really hope shes gone from Tropico 4 or can be killed without killing the proper radio DJ.

yes this is strange that you have to kill Juanito , to stop the rebels showing on the radio. Since Juanito is a radio show guy.

RE: Juanito: Funny or annoying ?
I heard that radio DJ in T4 will be familiar to original Tropico players. I guess CoconutKid will find that interesting. And I am sure most of other Tropico 1 players will be happy about that especially ones who got bored with Juanito.

There is a way to remove that "boring" :

Write more lines for one event/situation egg:

- Tropican treasury is full to the brim with money...

- Our country is getting richer and richerevery day...

That way we won't have to hear same exactly same sentences over and over again.

Agreed.
I mean, does it take that much effort? Just do a few hours a day working with the voice actor, and you'll have hundreds of lines. I don't think that's much to ask?

To be honest, I don't really get why people get so annoyed at Juanito and Betty Boom. I mean, sure, hearing 'a bug furry hug' and 'filthy shacks' over and over again can be boring, and that I will like it if he has more lines. But is it really so bad?

RE: Juanito: Funny or annoying ?
That bit where Juanito says "Gooooooood Morning.....".....that always makes me jump! Smile I don't know why, but that first "Goooooood.." comes over so loud compared to all the other sound in the game....I know it's supposed to stand out, but it comes over really loud!

I must admit, I've also turned the radio off on mine. I've played it so much the last few days and it does get real repetitive, real quick! It's still good to have the option there though because I'll probably turn it back on again in a few days and it will feel fresh again!

Same here.

But I still wanted a Latin soundtrack in the background that would be appropriate for the feel of the game. So I went to Shoutcast (online radio directory) and clicked on "Salsastream Sky.FM" radio.

It plays pretty similar music to Tropico's own radio station and it really complements the game play. Overall it is a good compromise.

RE: Juanito: Funny or annoying ?
The day I heard Betty Boom for the first time, I wanted to arrest and torture her in the Presidential Palace Dungeons.
I still want to.
I never got boring of Juanito even though he repeats himself quite often and quite relentlessly.

I still endure her ramblings just to get the occasional comment from Juanito when I he tells my people that I'm a poor surpressed and misunderstood dictator while he is the only one believing in me.

I do not support Tropico 4 if you have to listen to Betty Boo(m) and I wish Penultimo would have a voiceover close to that of Juanito and of Course you should have more lines in his voice-acting. That really would give you more game immersion.

Both J and BB are quite funny the first time they say something, then they become boring. And quite often what is said is inappropriate, such as Juanito blathering about the perfect weather when there's a hurricne blowing.

I like jaunito, he has a nice voice and adds to the feel of the game.

It would be nice for a more varied vocabulary though.

I still chuckle when I hear him say "who knows, there could be one in the basement right now" Smile

I never use the Kill Jaunito edict. It's just to cruel to make him pay for the sins of that witch Betty.

And I could never work out why he has to die to shut her up either.

RE: Juanito: Funny or annoying ?
First of all, Ive got the game in spanish (see signature) and sometimes he says funny things.
Although then turns repetitive, some things are useful.
Music is fine and its related with the game.

I some doubts about him:
Can you see Juanito walking in the street? Is he capitalist, religious, etc.? Can you kill, arrest, bribe, etc. him? What happens if you do?

Juanito is kinda annoying. I preferred the guy from Tropico 1. Less annoying voice and more dignified seeming. Of course the music was better too. The older game was surprisingly less cartoonish.
